vs. Ball State 1/15

Post by BillyLP »

Really hoping there is a big turnout for this game. The team deserves it with how they’ve been playing lately.

Hard to know what to expect from BSU this year. They hung tough with some solid teams early on, destroyed the Rockets at Toledo, and got blown out by Ohio at home. They’re lead by eleventh-year senior Tayler Persons, who is one of those thorn in the side players that I’m pretty sure has had some huge games against BG.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

I'll be there. Let's pack the Stroh and get to 4-0 in the MAC.

I'll be there.

I don't expect an especially large crowd in the Stroh. Due to this weird new schedule the students are still not back in town. I think it's going to take more than a 7 game winning streak to get the townies back to the games. After 15+ years of mediocrity, the fans won't return until they see some prolonged success, IMO.

Would love to be wrong, the place is more fun when it's packed. Recent history has shown, however, the only thing that will put extra butts in the seats is the opponent, not our play. With that in mind I expect better crowds for Buffalo & Toledo, but not for the rest of the MAC schedule.

You're right about that. I'm well aware that I'm one of the only students that will be in the place tonight, and I'm making the 45 minute drive for it. Gotta get the Huger Bobblehead!

Yeah, my kid has all of the bobbleheads since he's been born on a display shelf in his room, so I need to get one too.

Although it is very much a case of "One of these bobbleheads is not like the others" with Harold Anderson, Antonio Daniels, Nate Thurmond, and Coach Huger?

Yeah... I found it odd that Coach Fralick will be getting one this year, too. I get that we want to show our appreciation for her, and I have very little doubt that she's absolutely going to build a winner here, but I find it odd that she hasn't actually done anything yet and she's already getting one. Seems the bar isn't as high a we thought? Lol

Well certainly coach Huger isn't qualified for a bobblehead as a .500 or so coach for his career.
And as a player he's not even close to the most qualified BG alum on the coaching staff.

Seems odd to me that it's a coach Huger bobblehead while our all time leading scorer is also on the bench and doesn't get one. Not to mention our other [relatively] recent MAC POY, Keith McLeod.

It's really irrelevant in the grand scheme, and I want the bobble either way. Just seems odd to add coach Huger to a list of a MAC POY & NBA lotto pick, a basketball Hall of Famer, and the Hall of Fame coach who last led us to the dance (and had our former arena named after him).

I think I still have a Dakich bobblehead somewhere. Maybe I'll stash this one with the Dakich until Huger earns the right on the shelf with the others :)

Turner is unreal. Need to keep playing through him instead of forcing the issue to Wiggins in the post.

Gave up a 10-0 run by feeding the post for 4-5 straight possessions and getting zero from it.
