So I don't feel like working right now. Took the time to go through the box scores and create a spreadsheet with the actual percentages. Just so we have the actual numbers (assuming I typed correctly going from boxscore to spreadsheet).

I didn't do my cutoff at game 8, the way you did. I know the starting lineup changed for game 9, so you're probably correct making your cutoff there. However, that game was much closer statistically (identical, really) to the first 8. If that was a transition game, or feeling out, or a wakeupcall, I don't know. But I started my cutoff for the winning streak vs the previous to the streak. That CSU game is the transition game...

Games 1-9:

APG: 11.4
Turnovers: 13.8
FG%: 43.4%
3P%: 33.5%
3PA/G: 21.2

Games 10-19:

APG: 15.4
Turnovers: 11.2
FG%: 44.5%
3P%: 41.3%
3PA/G: 22.5


This is a STARK difference in style of play/results. Assists are up by about 4 per game. Turnovers are down by 2.5 per game. Ratio went from negative to positive in a pretty good way. Oddly the overall FG% hasn't moved much, but the 3P% has gone up by a huge margin. We're only shooting 1 extra 3 per game, but making 2 extra per game.

Combine this newfound offensive efficiency/ball movement style with our consistent ability to rebound the ball (thank you Demajeo), and you have a suddenly VERY good team. This isn't merely a "hot shooting" stretch, IMO, because the stats back up what my eyes are seeing. Our 3s are going in at a much better rate because we're moving the ball and getting much better looks at the basket. Guys like Plowden, Laster, and Sierra are even making some because they're getting good looks in the flow of the offense.

The switch in play style that this team has made is mind-blowing. It's been awesome to watch. I think Huger has been mediocre at best prior to this season, but he has done a great job transforming the way this collection of talent plays basketball. It started with changing the starting lineup, and it followed with something FINALLY clicking.

I have not checked this but it also seems the bench scoring or at least bench performance has improved during the win streak. I think that was the part of the reason for shifting Uju & Lillard to the 2nd team and Plowden & Fields to the 1st team. That helped us lose less ground and perhaps make additional gains while the starters are out.

1st team: Wiggins, Plowden, Turner, Fields, Frye
2nd team: Uju, Sierra, Lillard, (Turner or Frye), Laster with occasional contributions from Matiss K. Either Turner or Frye supplement the second team so they have additional scoring punch.

The only thing that has changed is that they have realized who their best player was (Turner). Then they asked themselves what style of play suits this player best and what players do we need to put around him to make him successful, they figure that out and they start winning and playing better basketball. This a shows alot of maturity as a coach and show that we probably have the right coach in place. The willingness to adapt and not be stuck in a scheme is so important especially in college sports.
