WMU (2/5)
WMU (2/5)
The BGSU men's basketball team plays their next game up in Kalamazoo against a team that is winless in the MAC. It will be played at 7:00pm, and it can be found on ESPN+ or you can follow it by way of the radio. No excuses, we've gotta have this one. I understand that there may be a letdown on the road after that emotional win over Buffalo on Friday night, but I still think this is a game we absolutely have to win. By 2 or by 20, it doesn't matter. We beat them 79-48 about 2 and a half weeks ago in our house, so I expect them to come at us a little harder to get back at us for embarrassing them.
Regardless, let's get to 8-1 in the MAC, boys.

Re: WMU (2/5)
Agreed.
Road wins are always tough to come by in the MAC, but this game is one you absolutely should NOT lose. I remember watching that game in amazement at how very bad WMU looked to be. And they've done nothing since to change my opinion.
Losing the occasional road game in the MAC is expected, but when you're going on the road to the worst teams in the conference you simply must find a way to win them. I understand a let down that makes the game closer than expected, but it's a must win. This team has flipped the script on my expectations. I'm prepared to call them a good team, this isn't just a fluke. And good teams don't lose to teams like WMU on the road.
So let's do it guys, go up to Kalamazoo. Show 'em why we're currently #1 in the conference, and then enjoy a cold draft at Bells (those that are of age!). K'zoo is a fun road trip, bummed it's on a Tuesday.

Can't look ahead to Toledo, although I expect that one to be a pretty big/raucous crowd on Saturday, too.

Re: WMU (2/5)
I actually expect this to be a bit of a let down game. I think WMU will keep it close and have a chance at the upset (man, it feels good to think of BG being *upset* at men's basketball) because it will be really hard not to have a hangover while simultaneously looking ahead to Toledo. I hope I'm wrong, because the talent gap is enough that this should be a 20 point victory, but I think it's going to be within 5 points most of the way.

Definitely agree on Bells. One of my favorites. Founders is nearby and very good as wellhammb wrote:Agreed.

Went up to Kalamazoo for an afternoon kickoff football game a few years ago. Hit Bells for pregame, then the game, then went to New Holland in Holland after the game before heading up to Grand Rapids to check out Founders.tiznow wrote:Definitely agree on Bells. Fun road trip (although Jordan White killed us and we lost). I've since been back to Bells & New Holland several times. Need to get back to Founders, which produces some of my favorite beers, just haven't been through Grand Rapids recently. And the last time I tried to stop at Founders they were closed for some reason or another...that was a bummer.
Re: WMU (2/5)
Not sure if it is because Meijer is from Grand Rapids, but they have a great selection of Bells, Founders and New Holland and at good prices. At least at the Meijer's in Indianapolis. I have not been to New Holland, but it is on my list.hammb wrote:Went up to Kalamazoo for an afternoon kickoff football game a few years ago. Re: WMU (2/5)
I've only ever been to WMU one time for a basketball game...like 36 years ago when Colin Irish was still on the team. All I remember was that BG won 88-44 (Apparently I remembered this wrong as the media guide says we won 80-54 in 82-83...lol). I'd like to see a repeat performance of that.

Enjoying a nice flight and Poutine at Bell’s pregame. Thanks for bringing it up!

Re: WMU (2/5)
Good win. Had a huge run to take a lead in the 1st half then never really looked back. WMU got it back to within 5 once or twice, but I don't think they were ever any closer. A couple defensive lapses during some stretches, then we'd get back right away with a couple good looks, maybe a steal, and it'd be back to 8+
Lillard with huge day shooting from deep, and was real good on the glass as well. WMU didn't have the depth to play with us at all. Played too many minutes early, got some guys in foul trouble, and it was over for 'em really.
As has been the MO of this team for the most part, they moved the ball well and they won. We relied heavily on ISO ball to beat Buffalo, but in this one we were racking up assists left and right again. Love that.
This team is playing better than any BG team in the past 15 years, I think. Jans's one year we had some good stretches, largely on the back of Richaun Holmes, but I don't think we had a stretch of overall good games like this. Fun to watch, and should be another packed house on Saturday for UT.

Re: WMU (2/5)
HUGE win! Great effort in a game that we would struggle with last year. The coaching staff has assembled a great team and spent the OOC schedule finding a lineup that works. 2 seniors that are totally unselfish and put the team ahead of themselves. 3 key adds in Marlon, Mike and Caleb have solidified the roster. This is coaching from the entire staff. Tip of the cap to you guys!
Re: WMU (2/5)
And so nice to hear from many WMU people say how they see how good and deep we are. Also nice to hear how quiet we can make an arena on the road!
Re: WMU (2/5)
I listened on the radio last night, and it was awesome to listen to another win. Slow start, but found our rhythm and pretty much controlled the game the rest of the way.
