Buffalo dropped to No. 23 but is still in the Top 25 after the loss. Good for the conference and good for BG.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

As midmajor football slowly wilts on the vine can the MAC become the basketball conference it should be? We will see, but a 2 bid season is a start.

If the MAC had made the proper commitment to basketball 15-20 years ago this wouldn't have even been a question. We were in position to cement ourselves as an upper echelon "midmajor" conference, and instead let basketball fall by the wayside in favor of throwing dollars at football.

As of right now I'm not sure I yet see the commitment as a conference to basketball excellence. Buffalo certainly has committed to the sport. BG has the resources to do so, but I'm still hesitant to say they've actually used them properly (get us a good schedule and use all of our scholarships, at the least!). Overall though much of the MAC is still lacking.

Luckily this is a year, conference wide commitment or not, there are some good teams in this group. Buffalo is one of the best MAC teams I've ever seen. And they played a legit OOC schedule so should have a reasonable argument at an at large bid. Last year's victory over Arizona will help immensely with the committee as well.

STill, the ONLY chance the MAC has at a 2nd bid is for Buffalo to lose in the conference tournament and still garner an at large look. I agree it'd be great for the conference, and a good start at helping us move forward in the sport (not to mention an additional tourney share in revenue). I'm glad to see that BG has earned enough respect that losing in our building didn't drop Buffalo completely out of the rankings. Unfortunately I'm afraid we are getting near the point where they're going to have to play perfect ball until the tournament to still get an at large bid. They're still #21 in Kempom and #15 in RPI, but we've seen teams in the top 30 of those rankings get left behind in the past.

And of course if UB rolls through the conference tournament then it'll all be moot as nobody else has nearly the resume. Still, this is a good year for MAC hoops, and is a good indicator of what this league could look like if teams started investing in the sport.

What a game... showed up at 7:45 and lucky to get in. I would have to think that the fire marshall was going out of his skull (there seemed like there was 1000 people watching the game from the top - I was one of them) Great night at the Stroh, every game should have a crowd like that. Traffic was not moving quickly, but I assume that they are not used to crowds like that. Nice to see the student section packed to the gills. Well worth the two hour drive. ROLL ALONG!!!

As a result of our continued success, including winning the huge Buffalo game last Friday, the home game against Kent State has moved to Friday, March 1 at 6:00pm, to be shown on CBSSN. It's great that they are getting national exposure, I just wish it didn't interfere with hockey that night.
