vs. UAH (3/1-3/2)
vs. UAH (3/1-3/2)
The final weekend of the regular season is upon us.
Following a 5-point weekend at Bemidji, our Falcons return home to the Slater Family Ice Arena this weekend for senior weekend. In terms of the WCHA playoffs, we are currently sitting in sole possession of 2nd place. As such, we sit 2 points ahead of Northern Michigan and 5 ahead of Lake Superior State, so we're not out of the woods yet, though we have already clinched home ice for the first round of the playoffs. My hope is that we can secure the 2 seed so that we can be guaranteed to host playoff games through at least the semifinals, should we advance. Playoffstatus.com projects us with a 92% chance to clinch the #2 spot this weekend. It can be clinched Friday night with a win and an NMU loss or shootout loss at Tech.
The next challenger in front of us happens to be the Alabama Huntsville Chargers (7-25-2), with Friday night's game beginning at 8:07pm for George McPhee Bobblehead Night and Saturday's game starting at 7:07pm for Senior Night. Fans are encouraged to wear orange to both games, and I hope people choose to really pack the arena both nights - this senior class has earned it. This is 100% a team that we should take all 6 points from, despite the fact that they are going to give us their all as they are still fighting for a playoff spot. Earlier this year, we defeated them 6-2 and 2-1, so we have already shown that we can sweep this team. Our magic number for clinching the 2nd place currently sits at 4 points, so we need to do as much as we can to secure that elusive 2-seed for the first time in the Bergeron Era.
We're 17-2-1 over our last 20 against UAH, outscoring them 86-29 in those games, if you were wondering how lopsided the recent series has been.

End of 2, BG leads 1-0. Shots are 18-10.
Huntsville's shots all came after the 10 minute mark.

Pathetic. No defense for this. I hope the guys are embarrassed, they should be.

This is on par for the second half we've had. No surprise here.
If i'm a 4-8 team in the WCHA, I'd be praying we play against BG because they are an easy team to beat at home.

I'm embarrassed and I'm just a season ticket holder and fan.jbakerifm wrote:Pathetic. No defense for this. I hope the guys are embarrassed, they should be.
What in the flying f***? You kidding me.....
I may be done until October. I've got Four tickets for tomorrow if interested.
Re: vs. UAH (3/1-3/2)
This team and staff have a problem. They better figure this out before it IS time for a different voice in the room.
Re: vs. UAH (3/1-3/2)
That’s a tough loss, but we just aren’t that good. This program is and has been overrated for quite a few years now. Any success we’ve shown is thanks to the softness of our schedule.
Re: vs. UAH (3/1-3/2)
Awful loss, and now there's absolutely nor margin for error. To be playing past March 23rd, this team will have to win on March 23rd.
I'll always ride with my Falcons, but my word was that an awful loss last night.

With their win last night, UAH eliminated Ferris from the playoffs. 7 years ago they were playing in the national championship game. Ouch.

Just watched the post-game video with Coach Bergeron and he was asked (I think) about what the issue is, and he said outright that inconsistency has plagued the team all season...and he thought they'd finally put it behind them last week, but it happened again.jbakerifm wrote:This team and staff have a problem. If the coach can't figure this out (and it has been a problem for years now), then who can?

That game was lost during an 8 minute lapse. Conditioning, physical and mental, have been a problem for a long time now.Falconwriter wrote:Just watched the post-game video with Coach Bergeron and he was asked (I think) about what the issue is, and he said outright that inconsistency has plagued the team all season...and he thought they'd finally put it behind them last week, but it happened again.jbakerifm wrote:This team and staff have a problem.
