The opportunity to get off to a good start in front of the home fans? Get positive momentum rolling, build confidence, break in the new starters, acclimate them to a new system?

What are we doing, trying to be a successful football program or something? :-D

(Also noticed Toledo has their typical one Power 5 game. Not anybody traditionally and/or recently strong, not two and never, ever three)

The students usually come out in full force to party since it's the start to a long weekend ND, Kansas State, La Tech and Morgan St. I really like this non conf sked. La tech should have a good crowd in Mid Sept and no doubt our boys have 10/12 circled. Enough is enough.

This is a challenging yet not overwhelming schedule with winnable games. Wouldn't surprise me to see this team win 6-7 games...or more. Who knows? Look what Meyer and Blackney did in their first years. It def can happen. There is solid talent in the program and now we have coaches who have been there before and, by most accounts, know what the hell they're doing.

Cautiously optimistic....190 days til kickoff. Time to get back to what we should be doing every year. Contending for the MAC title.
The only part of the schedule I do not like at all: playing a very good P5 team a week before you play your rivalry game. I would say odds are pretty good BG will be beat up a bit when the rockettes come calling. Not that I have much faith in beating them, anyway. (almost) a decade of losing to them has pretty much destroyed my confidence in winning that game.

I'm sick of losing to UT. And now that the RB coach and his staff of grad assistants are gone and replaced by experienced, veteran professionals, I like our chances to shift the tide. I expect we will see a well coached, albeit a bit thin of a team this year. And next year and beyond we will every year see a deeper, more talented, and well coached team.

For how poor the Jinks teams may have been, they usually competed with UT until the end of the game when lack of depth hit us. I mean we almost went to the ass bowl and won in 2016

I would say the last two season schedule was not favorable for BGSU. Too many money games that was not winable. That was not fair to the players and Jinks. No win situations and plenty of blame too go around.

That said I'm excited about this year. I see us winning six to seven games this year. Down year in the Mac east with Buffalo and Ohio losing major players. We had a lot of young players playing the last two years and taken their lumps Now it's our turn to start beating some ass again in the Mac! Looking at 7-5 and bowl game!!!!!!

Agree 100%.

Erik Campbell's Twitter informs us that spring practice starts Saturday although there is still no announcement from the official website.

We've had the signing day assistant interviews blocked by an ESPN3 password request and now another interview blocked by a pay wall. Unless somebody was listening to WBGU at 7AM you wouldn't have heard that Loeffler interview either but I tracked down the archived link, although I don't know how long they'll have it up.

You have to either have paid subscriptions to things or be prepared to do extensive digging to find information about this team and it really shouldn't have to be that way.

I also think this team could beat Toledo. UT feels like they're down, Candle has been kind of exposed as an overrated coach after Campbell's guys have left, and we're at home on a Saturday. Perfect storm, if you ask me.

Loeffler said the guys have October 12th circled on their calendar...
Should have put some money on it.

I told my friend to bet the under and won him $100. I told him he owes me some Portillo's next time I'm in Chicago.

I hope you're right on the remaining three. I went from thinking this was a 2 win team on Friday, to believing that it could be a 4-5 win team today.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

My standard Portillo's order always includes a chili dog with cheese and onions as my dessert.

I like to go with the classic Italian beef sandwich w/peppers and cheese (extra gravy), an order of cheese fries and a cake shake. It's about 4 days worth of calories, but I only eat there about once a year now.
