Just watched the post-game video with Coach Bergeron and he was asked (I think) about what the issue is, and he said outright that inconsistency has plagued the team all season...and he thought they'd finally put it behind them last week, but it happened again.

If the coach can't figure this out (and it has been a problem for years now), then who can?
That game was lost during an 8 minute lapse. Conditioning, physical and mental, have been a problem for a long time now.
That’s weird because we really should be at least a 2 seed in the NCAA Tourney.

Where do you see that?

Were you in attendance for the game?

That's what I'm saying. They need to figure out what its going to take to jump from an average team that can't regularly beat teams in the bottom third of the national rankings. Right now that's a hallmark of BG hockey. Decent conference playoff runs and they show up for most big games but an inability to beat the teams they should on a regular basis.

It's not talent. We clearly have more talent than anyone but msu in conference. What we don't have is a hungry, mentally tough team. More talent isn't going to help that.

I haven't given up on anything but my patience is running thin.

I'm sure several of these items have been previously brought up.
Out of Conference schedule is fine.
League is fine, just don't loss or tie to the bottom teams that are awful.

Let's look at 4 games and see how drastically looses and tie against awful teams kill your pairwise.

Current Pairwise - .5418 good for 16th.

Robert Morris (56th Pairwise) lost 10/12. Change that a W
Alaska Anchorage (60th Pairwise) Tied 11/9. Change to a W
Ferris State (57th Pairwise) Tied 12/7. Change to a W
Ferris State (57th Pairwise) Lost 1/25. Change to a W

Changes Pairwise to .5676 good for 6th and at this point a guaranteed At-large. Beat the good teams and don't loss to the awful teams, Those four games against AWFUL teams are holding this team back from potentially being a national #2 seed.

Scoring 4 quick goals tonight only makes last night look worse. Shows how unprepared the team was.

End of 1, BG leads 5-0. Shots are 12-3, BG.

L Craggs gets the gate for a weak check from behind. Meanwhile, UAH has taken two headshots, and a cross check from behind head first into the boards, and those three players are still in the game.

Hmm, looks like a post of "IFS" to me.

And you didn't answer my second question.

I wouldn’t ever waste my time watching us play Alabama Huntsville....or Anchorage for that matter.

So you're saying you really have no idea how good the team is, or isn't, but you're rather opinionated based on what you read. Got it.

No, I’ve seen us play about 12 games this year and seen a handful via livestream. I also closely follow college hockey at the national level. It’s enough to have an informed opinion. Considering how this season has played out, my opinion on the team is much more accurate than most.

Bg looked absolutely fantastic against Alabama. They passed the puck well tonight and that is the absolute key as they really do not have the talented snipers it takes to score on a consistent basis. Going into last nights game we had scored 16 goals less than Lake Superior, and it’s hard to win defensively night in and night out.

Was really disappointed with Craggs hit last night as it continued to show the undisciplined nature of this Falcon team. I wouldn’t be upset if he and his brother were kicked off the team, I’m tired of seeing them take unnecessary majors that wear us down and cost us with suspensions and being a skate short for the misconduct

Wouldn't surprise me if Lukas was signed. He likely won't be here next year. I thought getting the gate was a weak call especially in light of the BS they let UAH get away with. And he is not an undisciplined, dirty player. He's a hard nosed player with a reputation. I want him on my team.

Edit: Same with his brother.

We went 5-0-1 against teams in the top 10 pairwise. We went 5-2-1 against teams in the bottom 5 pairwise (7-3-1 against the bottom 10). While I'm sick over what could have been, we're not going to sweep those teams. If we do what Mankato does and win a couple more of those Bemidji/Tech/NMU games we end up OK. A post of "ifs..."

A ton of the Craggs penalties aren't dirty - they're just hard hits that the WCHA is scared of. Perfectly clean, just aggressive. And a lot of other penalties they take are because an opposing player moves at the last second and puts them in a no-win situation out of fear. Lots of opponents are afraid of getting checked by them because they know it's a clean hit that's going to hurt. His hits are a little like Kronwall - hard and vicious, but clean. Wishing for them to be off the team is baffling, to me. They're among our best players, and I'm happy to have them on our side.

Now to beat Tech twice next weekend. It's playoff time.
