They are I think 3-4 since Miami losing for the exact same reason every loss.Matty B wrote:The team has clinched a bye. They lost the first game, a road game against a quality opponent, after clinching a bye. Relax.

Re: @ Akron (3/5)
You're both right. I expected a loss tonight the way we were coming off the clinch and the way Akron played Saturday. Still getting throttled by a mediocre opponent is painful.
Even more painful that globe is 100% right. This team hasn't shown up with winning effort more than 2-3 times in the last 3 weeks. Way too many games where we sleepwalk on defense and just Chuck it on offense.
I too think we'll show up rested and motivated and win on Thursday next week. After that is anybody's guess, but the last month has made me question if we peaked way too early and can't find the motivation on a nightly basis anymore.

Bingo. When the team plays inspired on both ends like they did Friday vs a very good Kent team, we are fine.hammb wrote:You're both right. I expected a loss tonight the way we were coming off the clinch and the way Akron played Saturday. Still getting throttled by a mediocre opponent is painful.

Sure, you wish we would bring a little more fight the last 2 weeks when it's not there on offense, but unfortunately that's not this team. However, meaningful basketball should elevate this squad next week.

We are like an offensive coordinator who gives up on the run the minute we get down a score. There is no spacing. No movement. When a shot goes up how often is anyone near the rim? How often does someone follow their shot.
Frye was in position to take charges two plays in a row. As someone who wants to be a team leader how do you do that. This team has no heart.

Globe, was at the game and Wiggins didn't see the floor for more than 2 min in the 2nd half. IMO, it was a match up problem. He was very ineffective in the 1st half.Globetrotter wrote:Was Wiggins benched?

We should be creating matchup problems with our first team center not having to bench him. Such a frustrating team.Falconfreak90 wrote:Globe, was at the game and Wiggins didn't see the floor for more than 2 min in the 2nd half. IMO, it was a match up problem. Akron is not a "quality opponent." That's as bad an Akron team (16-14 overall and 8-9 MAC) that I've seen in 20+ years. Dambrot always had a level of talent with his teams. Groce has done no recruiting at all it seems.Matty B wrote:The team has clinched a bye. They lost the first game, a road game against a quality opponent, after clinching a bye. Relax.
We had no answer for their 5'6" point guard. Frye an Laister had no chance trying to guard him. That's why we saw Austin at the end of the half. I agreed with the move by Huger. Jackson hit the 3 but it was because Uju didn't come off the pick to contest his shot. Not Austin's fault.
Wiggins only plays 14 minutes? Frye 1-11 on 3's. Lillard 2-11 from field. Just awful.
Our only good offensive possessions come when Turner has the ball.

Kent is not a "very good" team. They have Jaylen Walker and that's it. He has to jack up 30 shots a game for them to even compete. Yes the've won 20 games, but they're just 9-7 in MAC after a weak non-conference schedule.Matty B wrote:Bingo. Kent has non-conference wins over Wright State (20 wins), Vanderbilt, and Oregon State. They had losses to Liberty (26-6) and Louisville.Rollo83 wrote:Kent is not a "very good" team. People continue to not believe the MAC has depth despite being ranked #8 toughest conference in the NET rankings, between the PAC 12 and Gonzaga-led WCC.

We're either going to win...or we're going to lose. Either way..this has been a fun season so far

Yeah, I don't get it. He's been calling MAC games since the 1980s, I think. He's entertaining.hammb wrote:How do people not like Reghi?Matty B wrote:Ugh, we get Michael Reghi and his hair plugs calling the game. Over under first media timeout until I mute.

He's always been a NEO guy, so not shocked there. And especially now he's on the Akron broadcasts he's become more pro Akron than he was when doing random MAC games.Globetrotter wrote:Seems to be slightly Kent and Akron leaning but other than that he's fantastic.Schadenfreude wrote:Yeah, I don't get it. To me he's just the only professional announcer the conference has ever had that legitimately seems to follow and enjoy the conference. I've watched almost all of our road games this year on ESPN3/+ and most schools are just putting students or young broadcasters out there to get their feet wet. For nationally televised games (football or basketball) we usually get bottom of the barrel announcers from ESPN that sound like they feel they did something wrong to be relegated to the lowly MAC.
