To get better. Because basketball is fun. To spend more time with your friends. Because you want to extend your career.
The CIT/CBI tournaments do nothing for the team. There's no value to winning, it won't help recruiting, and its a lot money to enter (I believe it's around $50,000 to enter, and another $25,000 plus to host a game, plus paying more money if you choose to host once you advance). Two of the three scholarship seniors have professional basketball careers to prepare for and definitely wouldn't want to risk injury, while the other is off to dental school. I'd rather the returning players get some rest and then get back to work so they can make a legitimate run at winning the conference next season. The team feels like they failed by not beating Buffalo and they don't want a reward for failure. It's the correct decision.
It's absolutely not the correct decision. Are you telling me we don't have at most 75K to spend on going to a tournament? We didn't use all of our scholarships again. There is money there. Why are these meaningless tournaments on page 8 of our record book? How soon do these professional careers start? How much rest do these players need that they need this week off? One of those seniors was 3 rebounds away from being the 2nd all time rebounder in school history. Another will never play basketball again.

It's yet again an example of a group that just doesn't seem to care about basketball. Other teams have the same financial constraints we do. Why are they going?
We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I really do understand your point, but I still think it was the right choice. A former basketball player (not from BG) was actually talking about these tournaments on twitter this morning and how his team won one of them several years back, but he said the team wasn't happy about playing in them from the start. They have the feel of pity invites after a team feels they have fallen short. I'd rather that 75K go towards almost anything else.

I wouldn’t want to see him in the record book ahead of guys that are are above him anyway, not because it isn’t a great accomplishment, but both Cash and Thurmond set the standard in THREE years. Freshmen were not eligible to play in those days.

Not sure if you all saw the video of UT when they were revealed in NIT. The players looked like they didn't care and just wanted the season to be done, especially with the way theirs ended

These tournaments lose money for the participants. Basically all costs are on the respective school to cover. With Men’s Basketball being able to practice almost year round, I think this is a smart decision. You really don’t gain anything and why spend the money if no one cares?

You're insulting people on the internet. You have posted 16 times. Mostly insults of other people. You are going on the internet and insulting people and then calling others douches who have too much time on their hands. Insulting people on the internet is the definition of douchebag with too much time on their hands.

I don't have much problem being wrong. That's how discussions work. Sometimes youre right and sometimes your wrong. There are tons of really smart people on here.
