Re: Rico OUT at Miami
Berge instantly becomes a candidate, and I don't know how we keep him.
I wish this wasn't going to be a distraction during championship week, but here we are.

Re: Rico OUT at Miami
I don't see Bergeron leaving for Miami. There has been bitterness between the BG and Miami programs after the breakup of the CCHA and Miami's abandoning of BG during the league changes. I don't see the Miami job as any better than our job.

$300k goes a long way to soothing any bitterness or hurt feelings.

Bergeron seems underpaid to me. This is something Moose ought to be able to fix.

I think it will, depending on the outcome of Saturday. I don't think they renegotiate much without getting to the next step.Schadenfreude wrote:Bergeron seems underpaid to me. This is something Moose ought to be able to fix.

Winning the WCHA every 3 or so years should be the expectation. Not sure Bergeron has really earned any big pay raise? In fact I’d say he hasn’t.

I think Bergeron stays.

Re: Rico OUT at Miami
My understanding is that BGSU pays Bergeron significantly less than Mike Huger or Robyn Fralick. This does not seem equitable considering the long tradition of greater interest in hockey at BGSU.TommyG wrote:Winning the WCHA every 3 or so years should be the expectation. If Miami wants Berge, they'll get him.

Re: Rico OUT at Miami
I’m 98% certain he’ll leave. I just hope he does it all after season ends, hopefully in mid-April!
Re: Rico OUT at Miami
I think Miami will have their sights set higher than Bergeron....he’ll probably be in the mix as backup plan.
Re: Rico OUT at Miami
Any chance Bergeron wouldn't want to go since they just fired one of his best friends and former teammates? Perhaps wishful thinking on my part. I hope he stays, and gets a healthy pay raise if the team makes their way in to the tourney this year.
