NCAA Tournament ROUND 1: Minnesota-Duluth (3/30)

Post by mbenecke »

It’s finally here.

After 29 long years of pain and heartbreak, our Falcons have finally returned to the big dance. This coming Saturday, our Bowling Green Falcons (25-10-5) will take on the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs (25-11-2) at 4:00pm in Allentown, PA. I encourage you to attend the game and wear orange, but if you cannot attend the game in person, it will also be shown live on ESPNU.

Goaltender Stats:

BGSU
Ryan Bednard GAA - 1.78, SV% - .926, 20-7-4
Eric Dop GAA - 1.34, SV% - .948, 5–3-1

UMD
Hunter Shepard GAA - 1.86, SV% - .919, 25-11-2

It's finally our next opportunity to make history on the national level, and I hope we take advantage of it. Leave your thoughts and predictions below.

Go Falcons!

If you are unable to make the trip to Allentown, there will be a watch party for the game at Buffalo Wild Wings here in BG.

PlayoffStatus.com has us at 1-3 to beat Duluth, a 7% chance of making the Frozen Four, and a 3% chance to win it all. They have Mankato at 9% to win it all. Let's hope Buccigross knows something (he has us in the Frozen Four).

3-0, 4-1 Duluth. We’ll compete but just be out talented.

We win that game without an unlucky bounce off Chris Pohlkamp's skate. It wasn't his fault, but that's 100% true.

We were once again the better team for 57 minutes before it slipped away for seemingly no reason.

It was a competitive game. Bednard really held us in it for stretches. We grinded as much as we could, but they are more skilled. I wouldn’t say we were the better team at any point, but we did skate with them and stayed aggressive. Their puck movement was much crisper and they failed to capitalize on their chances til the end. The WCHA again fails to win a game in the National Tournament. We definitely competed better than Minnesota State, but they basically played a road game against an equal opponent.

Well that was a heartbreaker but BG looked offensively sloppy today. Puck handling was terrible and passing was not crisp at all. Team has played decent offensively all season so to see only 1 goal scored today was shocking
