Coach Schmitz needs to teach all the other head coaches at BG how to beat Toledo. He seems to be the only one who has done it consistently over his career.

Very proud of how this team responded to its first MAC series after a rough pre-conference season. On a personal note, the young man who is getting some of the scholarship I created wrote me a wonderful note, thanking me for my support and telling me how it has helped his family. It was a very powerful message, and deeply appreciated. Coach Schmitz is a great mentor for these young men; teaching them exceptional life lessons beyond baseball.

Well said, writer. Now if we could only get the administration to give them some support with scholarships and facilities, we would really have something.

factman: I could be wrong, but I believe baseball is now within one scholarship of having the NCAA maximum. They were within 2 when I created one, and I believe someone did the same thing not long after I did. Can't speak for facilities. BG baseball could use an "angel" like the Slater Family is for hockey.

Here's hoping the Baseball Falcons can continue their hot start at Ohio this weekend.

I think you are probably correct on the scholarships, but that one scholarship still represents 2-3 more players that we could have.
Many of our MAC teams are jumping way ahead of us as far as facilities. The locker room is about our only upgrade in the past5-6 years, and it won’t be long before that needs refurbished, not to mention turfing the field and upgrading coaches salaries etc.
