Re: Off-Season 2019 (Speculation/News)
Say what? Blashill was a championship head coach in the USHL before taking Western to a top four CCHA finish and a trip to the NCAA's. Prior to that he had a very good reputation as an assistant, he even landed a spot with team USA's Jr staff a few times. He had a much better resume than Bergeron.
FWIW...he was only an assistant in Detroit for a year before he was deemed "not ready for the NHL" and sent to GR where he eventually coached that team to a Calder Cup

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

First of all, do we even know if Bergeron has any interest in coaching professional hockey -- at any level? Some guys are perfectly happy to be college coaches. Not everyone is aiming for the pros (thank God). I hope he stays, but I will certainly understand if he goes back to his alma mater. I also have no doubt in my mind that Moose & staff are doing everything they can to keep him at BG (within reason).

It's being reported that Lukas Craggs is closing in on a deal with the Nashville Predators.

And the Bruins (Harkins) and Kings (Emerson and Blake) haven't come calling yet.mbenecke wrote:It's being reported that Lukas Craggs is closing in on a deal with the Nashville Predators.

Interesting enough, it seems next season opens with a home and home with Miami.

The Blade is reporting that the school has confirmed that Bergeron has a new contract on the table here at BG. If he stays, it will almost certainly be on this new extension, with a significant raise.

As suspected, Lukas signs with the Preds. This is really neat, congrats, and stay out of the box!
Edit: This play is what Lukas' game is all about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMx7XdoO1TU&t=162s" target="_blank

It's been reported that we should hear Bergeron's decision either way by about noon tomorrow. So I guess we're officially on decision-watch?

Re: Off-Season 2019 (Speculation/News)
According to Miami Hockey's twitter, we have now broken up the season opening series with them.
We go to their place on Sunday, October 6th, likely in our first game of the season. They return the favor and come up here on... Monday, December 30th, when students are off campus.
I feel like we let Berge off easy with this scheduling. He doesn't have to face the crowd at full strength? Kind of a soft move.

From what I'm hearing, it's widely believed that Alec Rauhauser will be returning for his senior season. That would be an enormous get for us.

Re: Off-Season 2019 (Speculation/News)
Rauhauser would've likely signed by now if he was leaving.

He's my clear favorite to wear the C next year.BGFan wrote:Rauhauser would've likely signed by now if he was leaving.
Smaller senior class next season - just Letourneau, Linkenheld, Dalton, and Rauhauser. Wouldn't be overly surprised to see Letourneau or a junior get an A, too.
