13 roster spots taken up......
Someone talked about him recently being similar to Isaiah Johnson or Nick Perkins. I wonder how waivers work and if there is any chance he gets one.

It really makes no sense why they wouldn't let him have 4 years of eligibility after a redshirt.

Asking the staff to fill the roster is an absurd request I guess. Don't be a jerk.factman wrote:13 roster spots filled! Now there a whole bunch on this board can STFU!

This....if you sit an entire year at the school you signed with, you should not have to sit another yearGlobetrotter wrote:It really makes no sense why they wouldn't let him have 4 years of eligibility after a redshirt.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Yeah, I don't get the snark aimed at you for asking that question. A program struggling with a 50+ year streak without an NCAA appearance should be trying to get as many players as possible to help.Globetrotter wrote:Asking the staff to fill the roster is an absurd request I guess. As for Swingle...i read that he has to sit out a year -- and he loses a redshirt year. If I'm his parents I might be telling the NCAA they need to let him play immediately, and have a lawyer in the room when I do it.

And if Coach had given 13 scholarships ASAP would this scholarship been available for Dylan Swingle? I think this is an example of saving it for that perfect opportunity. That’s the point

so the kid essentially would have not played basketball for 2 years when he plays for us? That is absurd

Thank god we waited five years for this moment.FalconTurf wrote:And if Coach had given 13 scholarships ASAP would this scholarship been available for Dylan Swingle? I think this is an example of saving it for that perfect opportunity. That’s the point
Re: Dylan Swingle Commits
I honestly think "we like to hold it back for just the right moment, example Dylan Swingle" is an answer that would piss me off more than just saying we cannot afford to pay out 13 scholarships a year.FalconTurf wrote:And if Coach had given 13 scholarships ASAP would this scholarship been available for Dylan Swingle? It's an absurd strategy. Even if it does pay off this time it's still as asinine as doubling down on a 9 with the dealer showing a 10.

Re: Dylan Swingle Commits
The answer to why they don't do it is they value chemistry and character over that 13th spot. I think that is close to a fine answer. But I would respond with simply finding a juco with high character even if they are just an end of the bench good guy who gets a 3.5.
