2020 QB Commit

Post by BillyLP »

Riley Keller out of Whitmer. Solid 3-star with big offers.
BG '10

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

Local kid. Offers from Iowa State, WVU, and Ole Miss. I like it.

And I watched a highlight video. Huge arm. Moves around the pocket nicely. This is a great get.

Awesome job by Loeffler and company.

If I'm not mistaken, he is some relation of Ben Rothleisberger.

I remember him getting the offer from Ole Miss when he was a freshman. Loeffler being able to come in and get him to BG seems like a kind of big deal. And Loeffler has been hitting the Toledo area hard. This is the third or fourth commit from Toledo-area schools.

He had a significant injury that cut his junior year short. And he had a great attitude about it. Trust the process, he said about following orders from the doctor and coaching staff.

I like this kid already.

Big, big pickup. I was pretty confident that he WOULD NOT end up here, so to see him be here was surprising.

Great get by Coach Loeffler. Keep the momentum going on the trail!

It definitely seems like a big get for BG. His 24/7 crystal ball had 100% WVU. Doege for Keller I guess.

First off let me say I really hope he actually does end up coming to BG. On paper he looks and sounds like a great fit and the type of player that we need at that position. That said, let's not forget this is simply a verbal commitment, which means next to nothing these days. That isn't a slight towards him, it applies to any and every guy out there. We're going to have to fend off teams for the next 7 months if he keeps to his word and signs early, or wait 9 months if he signs late. Then if he does sign, will he even stay at BG for more than a year or two. There was a time when a verbal commitment actually meant something. But so many guys end up changing their mind. We've also had a massive amount of guys leave. Print out the last several recruiting classes, and then take a pen and cross out the names of the guys who either never made it to BG, were dismissed, transferred or quit and you'll have ink all over the pages. I did it myself and was amazed at the number of guys who are gone. So, I hope we seem him come to BG, and actually play at BG, but anymore, I'll believe it when I see it.
GO BG!!!

Assuming they can keep this class together, it's shaping up to be very impressive. Already #2 on 24/7. I'll admit I had some reservations about this staff's ability to recruit given they're older and maybe weren't "with it" when it came to today's high school kid, but I'll be more than happy to eat some crow.

It does look very solid so far....that's where it starts. Getting talented hard working kids with good character. :supz:
