Great play and a beauty of a throw from Wade.

I missed it! ESPN3 gave out and I was getting it loaded up again.

Morris catches a TD pass, but a late hit on him causes him to run towards a man and have a stare down, resulting in offsetting personal foul penalties on Morris and Morgan State player. One of those "no talent" penalties Loeffler was saying we need to cut down on - and he's absolutely right.

Needham misses the extra point. Disappointing - we need better special teams play.

Falcons up 13-0.

On third and 5, Melvin Jackson sacks the QB and forces Morgan State into another three and out.

The Bears will punt on a play that will end the first quarter.

BG's fourth drive will start inside the Morgan State 40. Think about that - giving your offense great field position can lead to great things. A good defense can flip the field.

Obviously it's a lesser opponent but the first quarter defensively was textbook.

Quick observations:

These helmets are awesome.
These are the first brown jerseys that I've ever loved.
Loeffler isn't gonna let these guys half ass it and as a result they're not going to get dominated by FCS schools anymore.

END OF ONE: Falcons 13, Bears 0.

We've given up 8 rushing yards on 10 attempts. Our defense just gave up 22 yards in the first quarter.

The offense gained 9 first downs, with 98 rushing yards and 59 passing yards.

Clair leads the way with 44 rushing yards.

False start takes a 3rd and 4 to a 3rd and 9, which would have resulted in us being stuffed but we were bailed out by a roughing the passer call, so we get a fresh set of downs. Need to get rid of the undisciplined penalties - and I think we will, with time.

Wade hits a strike to Ortega-Jones over the middle to get inside the 15.

We have been outplayed by FCS teams for 3 years. This is a breath of fresh air for sure.

On third down, Wayne-Prather was wide open but Wade lead him a bit too much and it leads to a field goal.

Up and through on the 25 yarder by Needham.

16-0 Falcons, 12:32 left in the 2nd quarter.

The defense continues to get stops. Another three and out by Morgan State.

I don't want to jinks it, but this is the best tackling in space I've seen in years. I have already seen several plays where based on my time watching BG football in recent years I expected the Morgan State player to break a tackle and gain ten yards. Instead, solo form tackles.

Agreed, Mark. I resist drawing too many conclusions considering the opponent, but they are playing fundamentally well. Clearly more disciplined. Lining up correctly and look like they have been coached and know their assignments. Good to see.

Davon Jones may be a difference maker. He's a freight train with the moves of a figure skater.
