Jinks' press conferences were ... not good. Ask him a football question and the most likely answers were "I need to look at the film and get back to you" or "we need to put players in the best position to win games". It was not informative or insightful, or at least not the way press conferences were supposed to be. It didn't give confidence that he knew how to fix problems.

Babers' press conferences were ... not much better. Yeah they were sometimes entertaining. But especially his first year, the biggest takeaway was that we all have to wait for year two for the offense to really work. Babers was a great coach, his teams were fun to watch, but his press conferences were not insightful. And I've heard people describe him as arrogant and insincere. Sometimes ... yeah he came off that way in weekly press conferences.

Back when I had time to write weekly previews, I actually did a lot of research and that generally involved listening to opposing coach press conferences. Some good ones that I still remember: Rod Carrey, Lance Leipold, Mike Norvell. And I'm going to have to hit myself for saying this one: Matt Campbell. Sometimes comparing the other coach's press talks to ours was insightful in it's own right.

So yeah ... it is refreshing to hear actual football talk at press conferences. It's been a long while.

Last night had the most students in attendance for a game since 2015, according to the athletic department.

Attendance was officially listed as 17,620 last night. A stellar number for a Thursday night game.

Let's pack the place for Homecoming on September 14th!

To be fair, that's what the old away side always looked like. So for the new away side to look that way isn't exactly surprising.

I thought it looked pretty good on TV. Switching sidelines has really helped there.

Kudos to the students for coming out. Now the community needs to step up. I imagine it will as this team begins to prove itself again.

Right, I should clarify - the new home side looked great. I just didn't love the shots from the field level that showed how empty the new away side looked.

Looking forward to seeing the Doyt a little more full on game day in the near future!

Stadium isn’t ever close to full. Best you can hope for is one side to look full.

Morris and Sims working the middle of the field are going to be a huge headache for MAC defenses...especially if we establish the run.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
