That's fair. Maybe I'm a little too optimistic. It's certainly something to monitor as the next few games progress. I'm hoping he's back soon.

I hope you're right, because I feel a little differently based on the fact it's our best player and no one is saying a word about it. Maybe I read into it more than I should have, but Huger kept referring to Turner in the past tense in his postgame interview following the Dartmouth game, saying things like "Turner was our leading scorer" or "Turner was our best defender." I know it's hard to put a time table on a return from a hamstring injury for anyone, but based on who we're talking about here, it would be nice to at least have some sort of an idea if it's a severe hamstring injury or not.
This is where I'm at. All this silence, for me, is foreboding. And rules about releasing medical info or not, BG could be saying a lot more about this, which also makes me think it's going to keep him out for an extended period of time.
Coach Huger at the Falcon Club Luncheon on Monday said that they received good news on Justin Turner. He did not provide any details or timeline, but it was good news.

This team isn't getting an at large bid this season no matter what happens between now and mid-March.

With that in mind, I would probably tell Justin Turner to get ready to go on January 3rd against KSU. If he was feeling great I MIGHT let him suit up for the New Year's Eve game to get some rust knocked off (just noticed, we play a noon game on 1/31? WTF..).

I just don't see much reason to try and get him back on the court any earlier. We should take care of most of our OOC slate without him, and really the games don't matter. We didn't schedule strong enough to make an at large bid even a remote possibility so there is zero reason to get him back out there and risk further injury. Get as healthy as possible in time for MAC season. That's what matters.

If BG ran the table between now and the second round of the MAC Tourney, they'd get an at-large, but I wouldn't bet a dollar on that. There's always some parity in conference play.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

Nick Piotrowicz of the Toledo Blade reported that Turner's injury has no timetable for a return, mostly because Huger wants him completely healthy before he's back out there.

It does sounds optimistic that he will be back, though. 5 non-conference games before the MAC opener.

This. As long as he's back at some point during the MAC regular season schedule, sometime in January being the most ideal, I'd be happy. Even if he comes back in February and plays a handful of games before the tournament. All I know is I saw him in person vs Dartmouth and he does not look like a person that is ready to do anything basketball related anytime soon, judging by the way he "walked" before the game and in between halves.

If JTurner is out for a while, the bright side is we get to see down roster players develop. I hope we can use this time to get Ziegler and CTurner serious floor time. We'll be that much stronger when JTurner returns and we take a run at the MAC title. Both of those guys have big top ends....it's hard seeing them sit.

Man, this would be a MASSIVE loss if it is true. Off the top of my head, the last time I can think of BG losing a player of Turner's caliber would be way back when Anthony Stacey was still playing at BG and we lost him for the season after only a handful of games with a foot injury. Man do I hope this isn't true. If BG has any hope of winning the MAC Championship and getting to the NCAA Tournament, it's only going to happen if Turner is playing. I know we made a nice rally vs Cincinnati without him, but we're not as good without him. Flat out, he's our best player hand's down. You don't lose a guy like Turner and just fill his spot with the next guy up approach. The next guy up is a step down. If this is true, and I really, really hope it is not, then you'd have to start wondering if we'll even see him in a BG uniform ever again.

Coach Huger on Monday said on his radio show at Frickers that they received GOOD news on Justin Turner. I don't think he would say that if he were out for the year.

Most athletes that injure a hamstring will re injure them over time. Hamstrings injuries can become chronic. Thus, he will probably not be inserted until the medical team feels he is near 100% and even then they will keep their fingers crossed every time he accelerates down the court. :boggle: My best guess for return will be towards the end of the month or early January.
