This may be the first year in forever where there are no head coaching changes in the MAC. I don't think anyone is getting fired and there's no obvious coaches ripe for the picking. It is possible as more dominoes fall that a lower opening nabs Leipold, McElwain, or Creighton but none of those are top candidates anywhere right now.

Mediocre MAC season likely means very little movement within the conference. Candle would have been in line for a promotion had the Rockets not flamed out. McElwain might get a look if someone is desperate given his SEC connections.

I wonder if Boston College will reach out to Don Brown, DC at Michigan, formerly at BC.

I've read that BC is targeting Al Washington (LB coach at OSU, former player there and coached there for 5 years) and that he would try to bring Don Brown along to be his AHC and DC.

I've always been puzzled by position coaches being hired to HC jobs, but I do think it makes a lot of sense in this situation, given his connections up there.

Yeah BC AD was at Ohio State so coaches with OSU ties are being mentioned.

I can't see Fickell making a move to BC so one of the current assistants at OSU make sense.

Here's a big one:

Chris Petersen has stepped down at Washington, and their DC Jimmy Lake has been named the new HC.

Very surprising move. Petersen has long been one of the best in college football. I wonder if he's got eyes for USC?

Also Graham Harrell, first year offensive coordinator at USC is meeting with Herman at Texas. Why is this significant? Could be an early indication that USC insiders think Helton is about to be let go so coordinators are looking actively.

Edit. Just saw a notice from the Athletic that Helton will return in 2020 but with a staff shakeup. IMO Harrell would be a major loss given the passing offense success.

Wake pays Clawson more than BC would. Their staff budget is huge. I think UM would be a great fit for Clawson should that opportunity ever arise.
