vs. UAH (12/6-12/7)
vs. UAH (12/6-12/7)
Following a sweep of a top 5 team nationally, our Falcons (10-5-0) will play host to the UAH Chargers (1-12-1) this weekend. The Chargers are obviously struggling this year, but they did just grab their first win of the year this past weekend against NMU, so it's clear they have the ability to jump up and bite a team. Both games will begin just after 7:00pm EST and will be available to stream on FloHockey. You can also listen to Ryan Vallon on the radio call, or follow @BGFalconHockey on Twitter for updates throughout the game.
Regardless, this is a series that we must sweep, and I truly think we will. I'm hoping for a good crowd both nights - we had 3300 on Saturday against Notre Dame. This team deserves to play in front of a lot of people.
Projected Goaltender Stats:
BGSU
Jr. Eric Dop... GAA - 2.00, SV% - .920, 10–4-0
UAH
Jr. Mark Sinclair... GAA - 4.04, SV% - .894, 1-8-1
Let’s go Falcons!

Re: vs. UAH (12/6-12/7)
These are the games that worry me more than the Minnesota State's and Notre Dame's. Losing to bad teams kills you in Pairwise. BG needs a convincing sweep and can't play down to UAH's level. Lost to them last year in BG.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.

We're up to 13th in the USCHO poll after the sweep of Notre Dame.
And while it's early and this stuff can change very quickly, we currently sit 6th in the PairWise with wins over #2 Minnesota State, #Notre Dame (twice), #11 Michigan Tech, and #15 Western Michigan (twice).

BG and Mankato are ranked, but what's really impressive is 4 more WCHA teams are receiving votes:mbenecke wrote:We're up to 13th in the USCHO poll after the sweep of Notre Dame.

Yep these are the type of games that have plagued us the last few years. Seems like we always play down to the competition on one of the 2 nights.
Re: vs. UAH (12/6-12/7)
A pair of Tuesday night games shuffled the PWR (the only ranking that actually counts) bumping us up another notch to 5th from 6th.

Re: vs. UAH (12/6-12/7)
Saw that. It also bumped Tech to #10. As we near the midpoint of the season, the WCHA has 3 teams in the top 10 pairwise. And even though it's still early, I can't remember a time when the current makeup of this league ever had 3 teams in the top 10 PW.BGFan wrote:A pair of Tuesday night games shuffled the PWR (the only ranking that actually counts) bumping us up another notch to 5th from 6th.
Here's the rest of the top 10 by league:
o BiG - 3
o Nachos - 2
o HE - 1
o ECAC - 1
There are a couple of upcoming series with pairwise potential:
o Tech at Clarkson 12/13-14
o NMU at Cornell 1/17-18

Does the GLI impact the PairWise? I know Tech and Ferris are competing. Not that Sparty or UM are great this season and would be worth much, just thinking ahead to determine my rooting interest.

It does indeed. Tech needs to win it to stay up there.mbenecke wrote:Does the GLI impact the PairWise? I know Tech and Ferris are competing. Not that Sparty or UM are great this season and would be worth much, just thinking ahead to determine my rooting interest.

Best for the WCHA would be Tech winning it, and Ferris finishing third.mbenecke wrote:Does the GLI impact the PairWise? I know Tech and Ferris are competing. Not that Sparty or UM are great this season and would be worth much, just thinking ahead to determine my rooting interest.
It wasn't too long ago that BG was in a similar situation at this point in the season, and missed out at the end.

Re: vs. UAH (12/6-12/7)
I really hope they can rally...but if I'd been asked to bet on the outcome of the games this weekend, I'd have bet big on a split. This is exactly the kind of series where BG tends to lose a game. Heck, they did it against this team last year, didn't they?kdog27 wrote:Down 2-0
