Week 17 belongs solely to Soulbeaver who correctly picked the winner of all 8 games this week. There were 238 penalty minutes this week; no one picked up any bonus points. No movement at the top of the standings. No movement in the race for the final playoff spots. No movement in the Mason Cup standings. Not much for me to write about.

What a weekend for mbenecke! First off, his beloved Falcons completed their men's basketball sweep of those despised Toledo Rockets. Then this Bleacher Creature's hockey team had a reasonably successful home stretch. Then he not only wins week 18 with a whopping 30 of 33 points, he storms his way back into first place in the race for the MacNaughton opening up an 11 point lead over MTUHuskyGold. And, along with mikeeddy19, also picked up 10 bonus points by predicting 72 penalties called over the weekend. One piece of advice: buy a Powerball ticket before your luck runs out.

But that's not the only newsworthy item this week. sonofcrossjcek was a perfect 8-for-8 this weekend and has opened up a 3 game lead over MavHockey14 in the race for the Mason Cup. Does everyone realize we are getting smoked by a kid?

It will be a couple of days before the leaderboard is back online. Switching ISPs is more challenging than I thought. We'll have to go old school this week. But enough of the Techno-Beaver stuff (Howard Stern reference, not to be confused with BSU), there are lots of week 19 updates. First off, congrats to our co-winners, Icd80 and mikeeddy19 who each posted 31 out of a possible 32 points. WOW! As for the bonus, well DOUBLE WOW as not only were there 9 players who correctly picked 12 total out-of-conference goals, the entire field picked up at least 1 bonus point. That's the first time this has ever happened, so yeah us!

mbenecke still maintains a 10-point lead over MTUHuskyGold and sonofcrosscjek still holds on to his 3-game lead over MavHockey14 (they both picked identically this week) for the Mason Cup. Turning to playoffs, there's a 5-for-2 race between Soulbeaver, Stauber1, Wi.HuskiesFan, Hatch_man, and puckdude40 for the the last two first-round byes. While not out of it, Footballguy51 and LakerDude will need to make up some ground these next two weeks.

MTUHuskyGold is the only player within striking distance of mbenecke for the MacNaughton but will have to overcome 9 points to do it. There is a 5-for-2 fight for the final two first round byes between Stauber1, Soulbeaver, Hatch_man, Wi,HuskiesFan and puckdude40 with MavHockey14 and TUPD likely gearing up for the first round. The fight for the 20th spot (and avoiding the play-in game) is too complicated to figure out with as many as 9 players in contention. With BGSURICK going absent this week, it's still possible for Footballguy51 and Laker Dude to climb their way into the playoff picture.

MTUHuskyGold wins the MacNaughton Cup with a sweep of the three games as long as the Governor’s Cup SOGs are 96 or higher. Every point given up in the picks increases the SOGs bonus requirement by an equal amount. Any other combination gives mbenecke his first MacNaughton Cup.

The Mason Cup winner will be decided by Saturday’s Mankato/Bemidji and Lake Superior/Ferris games. MavHockey14 needs at least one win and one tie to claim the Cup otherwise the hardware go to sonofcrossjcek.

With a 26 point cushion, BGSURICK has sewn up the 36th and final playoff spot. Footballguy51 and Laker Dude can only make up a maximum of 19 points. However, the battle for the first and second alternates is still alive and well. Footballguy51 holds onto the first alternate spot with a Mav win on Friday or a Seawolf win on Saturday as long as the Governor’s Cup SOGs are not between 95-99.
