vs. Ball State (1/28)

Post by mbenecke »

Following Saturday’s phenomenal 85-79 win at Toledo, our Falcons (15-5, 6-1) return home to take on the Ball State Cardinals (11-8, 4-2) on Tuesday, January 28 at 7:00pm. This game will be available to stream on ESPN+, and it will be Video Game Night at the Stroh.

This is a big game. We have both gotten off to strong starts in MAC play, and it is very important for us to stay at the top of the conference to ensure the best path through Cleveland possible once March rolls around.

Let’s get it. Go Falcons!

Plowden is a legitimate NBA talent and the best overall player on the team. There. I said it.

We need to get JTurner the hell off the court. He's killing us.

Ball State started off leading 12-2 about halfway through the first half, then BG went on a 32-11 run and led 34-23 at the half. Really impressive performance from Diggs.

Another slow start to begin the second half has let Ball State back into the lead. It's 45-44 BSU at the under-8.

We just looked like the classic Spurs a second ago. All 5 guys on the floor for us swung it around the perimeter and found Turner in the corner for 3. Just gorgeous ball movement.

He has 10 for us in the 2nd half, and BG leads by 1 with less than 3 to go.

BG is up 6 with 1:01 to play. Turner is on fire in the 2nd half - he has scored 10 in a row for us.

Ball State puts us on the stripe with 47 seconds left. If we're gonna win, we're going to do it at the stripe.

Turner makes the first... and the second.

This team lacks a killer instinct. The should have put that crap team away early in the 2nd half. The talent disparity was ridiculous.

We have a hard time putting teams away and pulling away, but we have found a way to win 16 games so far.

I will still take this over losing, any day. Longest MAC win streak in 40+ years? I can live with that.

Stat from Nick P of the Blade:

Turner had 7 points with 3:10 left.

He finished with 20.

Diggs was unreal tonight. Turner put up a personal 10-0 run when we were down late.

The rest of the offense was not good. Frye at least didn't force thing s and managed 6 assists with no turnovers.

Still I cannot figure out why this team refused to build leads and put games away. I also have no idea why the hell Huger watched his bench turn a 10 point deficit into a n 11 point lead then left them all on the bench until the starters completely blew that lead away.g

I'll take ugly wins but this team is so mind boggling. We would have won by double digit sit we could just make our bunni es.
