MAC Quarterfinal vs. Toledo (3/12)

Post by mbenecke »

Our #2 seeded Falcons (21-10, 12-6) will be taking on the #7 seeded Toledo Rockets (17-15, 8-10) on Thursday, March 12th at 6:30pm in Cleveland, Ohio. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

We obviously swept the season series, though each game was a thriller and we've been struggling down the stretch. It's going to be important that we make ourselves tough to play against in this one, as it's going to be a physical rivalry game. We're the better team, so we need to play like it.

It's time to end this damn streak. Sweep Toledo, Go Falcons!

Buffalo lost. Akron has a clear route to the final.

...as long as they're able to get by Ohio, who they beat by just 7 and 2 in their regular season meetings. That feels like an intriguing game to watch at noon on Thursday.

Hard to win three when the teams match up well.....should be a good game.

The MAC just released a statement regarding the coronavirus outbreak. The entirety of the men's and women's tournament in Cleveland will be played without fans in attendance. If you have tickets, you will either be credited towards next year's tournament or be given a full refund for the tickets you purchased this year.

I'm really bummed, as I had planned to be there for Friday and Saturday night, but this is where we are - the university announced this afternoon that in-person classes would be suspended following next week's spring break from March 23 until April 6.

Planning on driving to Cleveland all 3 night just like last year. Very unfortunate but expected once the governor declared a state of emergency and suggested this protocol for indoor events.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

I think the Ivy League set the precedent, though they’re not even playing the games. Regular season champs will go to NCAAs.
We have tix for 1st 2 rounds of NCAAs in CLE. Hope things stabilize a bit before then, but not looking good. OSU, BG both suspending in person classes when kids come back from Spring break.

Justin Turner was just named first-team All-MAC. Daeqwon Plowden was named to the second-team.

Loren Christian-Jackson is the MAC Player of the year, and John Groce is the MAC Coach of the Year.

I'm glad Plowden got recognized appropriately. I was afraid he'd be overlooked with the EOY awards, but he is very deserving of the All-MAC honor.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.
