Maybe a good sign, or maybe just ignorance that the article framed the choice between BG and the NBA rather than the grad transfer option. If it's between us and the NBA he's back next year. If it's between us and a P5 year I think he's gone.

Justin Turner has entered the transfer portal. I can't blame him at all, and I wish him well - he put in 4 years as a Falcon and was one of the best to ever wear the orange and brown.

My projection for next year...

Starters:
Davin Zeigler
Caleb Fields
Trey Diggs
Daeqwon Plowden
Tayler Mattos

Bench:
Chandler Turner
Matiss Kulackovskis
Dylan Swingle
Joniya Gadson

Freshmen:
PG Josiah Fulcher
PG Kaden Metheny
SF Cameron Young

I’m disappointed Juice entered the portal but as the powers of college basketball have tightened their ranks it’s tough to keep the top players for a 5th year. It is doubtful he gets a top flight non-conf schedule and certainly not the exposure at BG. Hope it works out and time to reload for the next run at the NCAA.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

GD man....well that ultimately answers where he stood with BG. Since he wasn’t leaving for any sort of pro ball, this move clearly proves it was a me over team decision. This is just how things are nowadays. I hate it, but it was his decision. But this is just yet another kick in the dick to BG basketball. We just can’t have nice things or enjoy special moments.

According to one ESPN College Basketball Insider, Turner has already heard from at least these schools:

UConn, Arkansas, Xavier, Gonzaga, Cincinnati, Missouri, Alabama, Marquette, Louisville, Arizona State, Virginia Tech, Texas, Texas Tech, and Minnesota.

I saw another report out there that he had already heard from 30 schools in the first few hours he was in the portal. We really had something with this guy. I'm sad for him that he won't get to end up as the all-time leading scorer in program history, because I think he deserves it, but I can't be anything but proud of him and thankful for his time here. I'm absolutely going to be a fan for life.

I don't blame JT at all here. Sometimes in life, you have to make the selfish decisions, and having a year at a national contender is going to set him up better for a professional career, plus he'll have an opportunity to pursue a grad degree from a different school. He put in his four years here, played his ass off, and left the program in way better shape than he found it. He owes BG nothing else. Congrats to Turner on an awesome BG career, and best of luck to him moving forward. I'll root for whatever team he ends up on (unless it's Ohio St., UNC, or Duke).

He’s heard from Pitt, Kansas, and Oregon as well.

I'm interested to see what they'll do with this roster spot. I would guess they aren't going to bring in a 4th freshman so that would leave going for a transfer or leaving the spot empty as they have done in the past. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Gadsen go, they aren't going to play Mattos, Swingle, and Gadsen next season.

We never really got to see Gasden play much. He may be more mobile and athletic than Swingle. Or maybe Swingle will drop 40# and become a beast.

I don’t wish him any ill will but I could care less about the rest of his career. If he was transferring because of family issues or playing time, I could understand. The rule is what the rule is, but to me it’s quitting BGSU. Don’t think it’s something that he should be celebrated for by BGSU fans.

I'm with you. It'll be a relief next year not seeing him pound on the floor and not blend into the offense.

Not sure what you guys have seen. Wasn’t BG’s offense pretty much built round him? Biggest problem was a lack of consistency from rest of rest of roster.
