He really did get a raw deal. Led miami in points and rebounds as a guard and they were really playing well down the stretch. You could have made an argument he could have been as high as 2nd team all MAC

I honestly thought he was the best player in the league. I know thats with a tiny snapshot of only watching the games we played against him though.

Yeah, I never watched any Miami game other than against us, but I definitely thought he was in the top 3-4 guards in the league. He gave us total fits. Size, Length, Athleticism, can rebound, enough shooting range to keep defense honest, etc.

His game logs are really odd though. He's over 20 points quite a bit, but just as frequently he's in the single digits. His overall scoring was down this year, even though his shooting was way up...he just attempted quite a few less shots per game this season, as a junior who is reasonably efficient that's really odd.

Looking at him a little closer, kind of an odd statline for a guy I thought was among the best players in the conference. I'll be quite happy to have him not on Miami any longer, that's for sure.

Yeah, leaving Miami is fine with me. In the MAC, I hate dealing with great players on bad teams.

Nike Sibande is in the transfer portal and is down to five schools.
The 6-foot-4 guard from Miami (Ohio) is considering Alabama, Arkansas, Georgetown, Georgia and Xavier. He averaged 13.9, 5.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists last season as a junior. He would have to sit one season unless he gets a waiver.
He broke down his top five for ZAGSBLOG:
Xavier:
“Xavier is a school in my top 5 because I’ve always liked their team and how they played and I have known one of their players Paul Scruggs for a long time and we have been playing together since we were kids, so the possibility of that being able to happen again is one of the reasons why Xavier remains in my top 5. Also, it’s close to home and near family.”
Georgia:
“Georgia is another school that is in my top 5. For one I have always been a fan of Tom Crean. He’s a legend, and I like the type of coach he is. He is big on developing his players and taking them to that next level. He is also big on building relationships both on and off the court, for him it’s not just about being a team but a family and I could relate to that”
Georgetown“
“Georgetown is another school in my top 5 one because I’m a fan of their style of play. And having relationships with players who were once on the team and hearing them talk about the coach, coaching staff and just team as a whole it definitely seems like a place that I can rock with. Also just having the opportunity to work with a legendary coach like Patrick Ewing.”
Alabama:
“Alabama is another SEC school in my top 5. Like some of the other schools in my top five I really like the way they play ball, how they push the ball in transition. I like coach [Nate] Oats and his coaching style and how he goes about in setting up his team.”
Arkansas:
“Arkansas is another SEC school in my top 5. For one I’m a fan of their offensive scheme and how [coach Eric] Musselman believes in his players. I like how he takes the time to develop his players to get them to that next level.”

My guess probably Georgetown. Maybe Georgia. The other three schools have no scholarship left. Maybe there are ways around that for someone that has to sit a year.

Hammb's point 're Sibande's stats reminded me of Ron Lewis during his time here. He get you 25 or 30 for a couple of games and then put up single digits for two.

Ron Lewis was a big-time talent. His biggest drawback while at BG had to do with issues I'm not going to toss out on here, coupled with issues a certain member of his family had with things at BG in return. I'm going to leave it at that. It lasted two years. Had he stayed at BG, he was likely going to be the MAC Player of the Year. All he did was leave for Ohio State where he played for two more years in the Big 10, including his senior year where he was a full-time starter, the team's second leading scorer (ahead of Mike Conley Jr) and played for a national championship. He put on a show in Ohio State's NCAA Tournament run and was clearly one of the top three players on that NCAA runner-up team (with Greg Oden and Conley). Lewis was one of the better players I've seen play at BG. It was a huge dagger when he left and we couldn't fill the void after he departed. Despite his scoring average being lower than what he averaged at BG as a Soph, we all saw how solid of a player he continued to be as he finished his college career. Antonio Daniels was a better guard than Ron Lewis was, but Lewis (BG and OSU career combined) was pretty comparable to Justin Turner in terms of the caliber of player he was. Lewis was more explosive than Turner is as Lewis was also a dunker in addition to being a scorer with both shooting and slashing ability, whereas Turner is a better defender. We've see Turner one more season than we saw Lewis at BG, but based on their two careers as a whole, I'd put the two of them in a similar category for the type of caliber of player each one is. I have high regards for them both.
