My name is Jessica Todd. I'm a 4th year Senior at BGSU majoring in Music Education. I play the oboe and English Horn in the BGSU Philharmonia and I used to play in the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Bands when I was able to fit it in my schedule. I marched 4 years in the FMB on the alto saxophone and played one semester in the Bird of Prey Athletic Band. So that is how you get my name "SaxyOboist"
I am from the town of Chardon in ne ohio. I am also profoundly deaf in my left ear and am slowly but surely losing hearing in my right.
Anyways, I am a huge BGSU fan. I just fell in love with the campus and the fact that it was way cheaper than Kansas State, which didn't have a very good music program for me since their bassoon professor was doubling as the oboe professor (blah). I was very happy to know that BGSU had a great music program however, so I decided to come here.
I love, love, love the football games. Both of my nephews are turning into huge falcon football fans and have attended every single game I have ever marched in. (Except for the GMAC bowl game because it was just too far, but we won't hold that against the lil' tykes). But just to give you an idea, Nathan, one of my nephews, asked Santa if he could have a Falcon football helmet for Christmas. I searched high and low for a real sized helmet and finally found one on ebay. He was so happy, he wore it for the majority of the day during xmas. heehee! So cute! My mom listens to the FMB marching band cd's everywhere she goes and it drives people nuts!! Anyways...
I should be graduating soon. hopefully. cross my fingers. We'll see. Am I missing anything out? Don't think so. Well, hope to hear from you guys! Go Falcons!!
About me I guess hehe

How does that effect your music??? I am a former deaf education major at BG and taught deaf kids for a lot of years! Have you or are you learning sign language? Awesome language to learn! (very handy in a loud bar!!SaxyOboist wrote:I am also profoundly deaf in my left ear and am slowly but surely losing hearing in my right.
GO HOCKEY!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
