Big Ten Presidents are meeting today as well to discuss their plans moving forward. MAC may very well be trendsetters in all this.

Was just coming to post this. Could end up working out to the MACs benefit if they can still get some OOC games with Big Ten before other conferences follow suit. Though I can’t imagine that the payouts would be as high if there isn’t the incentive of the CFP and major bowls.jpfalcon09 wrote:Big Ten Presidents are meeting today as well to discuss their plans moving forward. Not happening. The Big Ten has already said it's just conference games this year. They aren't going to change that.drumstix2388 wrote:Was just coming to post this. They might change that if they wind up postponing until the spring.Falconwriter wrote:Not happening. The Big Ten has already said it's just conference games this year. As sad as it is, this was the move that just made sense.
I’m hoping there’s a vaccine before then that allows us to be in the stands to cheer them on the next time they take the field.

It is official now. Fall sports postponed. Conference will try to play in spring.
Volleyball is easy to do in spring. Football ... much tougher.

The ESPN radio hosts are salivating as they wait for the ripple effect. All college conferences and certainly here in Ohio the OHSAA will all now reevaluate their plans.
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.

Don't worry the OHSAA will certainly have atleast two more "plans" prior to the Governor shutting it down.

This is the right decision. We are in a public health crisis. This may well save lives.

Whose life will be saved? The players aren't going to die. The older coaches can be distanced on the sidelines. Younger trainers can take the place of older ones.Schadenfreude wrote:This may well save lives.
Besides, what's the alternative to playing football? Will everyone who would have gone to the stadium on Saturday now stay in bed all day?

Whose lives saved? Teachers, other people who interact with the players ie parents and grandparents. And just because people don't die doesn't mean they don't have their lungs wrecked for lifeCritical Thinker wrote:Whose life will be saved? The players aren't going to die. What's the alternative to playing football? 100 guys not rubbing up against each other for an hour.

You do realize this was strictly financial, right? Without the payday games, the athletic departments cannot survive.Schadenfreude wrote:This is the right decision. We are in a public health crisis. This may well save lives.

What grandparent is thinking, "I'm so glad Johnny isn't playing football this year, now it's safe for me to see him!" You may be more susceptible to infection playing football than say, getting a haircut. But even going to the barber means risking infection, and if an infection means putting parents and professors in mortal peril, why should players even be doing that? The risk is going to be there no matter what you do unless you intend to keep the players in bed all day like Charlie Bucket's grandparents.Globetrotter wrote:Whose lives saved?
