I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
Re: New Football Stadium
Not sure where the conference will be 10 years from now, or attendance figures for that matter..... a new stadium seems far fetched.

In the interest of keeping the "look" of the rest of the campus...any and all additions to the stadium should not...in any way, shape or form...match the visual appearance of the existing structure

Re: New Football Stadium
I think we should paint the entire thing with the orange and brown paint that fades to pink and purple. Granted, it would continue the current theme and therefore go against the trends of BGSU construction, but it would be entertaining to have something that is accurate for about a year or two and then go WAY off.Flipper wrote:In the interest of keeping the "look" of the rest of the campus...any and all additions to the stadium should not...in any way, shape or form...match the visual appearance of the existing structure
Or, we could go with an outside-the-box concept:

ROLL ALONG!!!

One of the folks in the athletic department tweeted me that those renderings are at least five years old and there are no current plans related to it.

Renovating the Doyt? New indoor practice facility? Maybe Bob is going to cut football, then hope alumni save it, then renovate the Doyt. Just like he did with baseball. Brilliant Bob.

Correct. Bob is playing 3D chess. 3D chess with borderline illegal tactics like student fees. Brilliant Bob

Re: New Football Stadium
The way the stands curve around the field is nice. I've never been a fan of the pitch, though, which is awfully gentle. Other stadiums, including Northern Illinois, have a more steep slope, which I think makes for a better viewing experience. (When I had season tickets at BGSU, I always got them 48 or so rows up.)FalconTurf wrote:In the fantasy world of BG Football a 30,000 seat dome would be the ultimate with no need for a practice facility.
but the angles are wonderful in the bowl shape. It makes for great sight lines from any seat. That, I suspect, might be the most expensive feature to reproduce in new construction. It would be a shame to go from a concrete shaped structure to a metal frame straight line structure that looks like the seating for baseball that looks cheap.
But this is a nitpick. I wouldn't tear these stands down over it.

I would never tear anything down at the Doyt, mostly because it probably would never be rebuilt.

Re: New Football Stadium
I could see some minor renovations to concessions, but wasting any time or effort on a massive addition would be another mistake. If we start drawing 20,000 real people to games then we can discuss major additions/renovations. BGSU could play their home games at BGHS and really not have any trouble handling the demand...no reason to double down and waste resources.
Re: New Football Stadium
I believe it was 2015 when the Wood County Health Department finally cracked down on the Doyt concession stands. If I remember correctly a lack of running hot water was part of the issue. The following week, an athletics administrator tweeted a photo of himself getting ready to eat a Doyt Perry hot dog signaling the problems were fixed.
