I’d throw a few beans in for a done. Weather is so bad here it is impossible to sit through a season and enjoy itFalconTurf wrote:In the fantasy world of BG Football a 30,000 seat dome would be the ultimate with no need for a practice facility.
I understand the current grandstands have limited access points (4 narrow ramps), minimal pitch and concessions that are much more appropriate for the late 60's bodies with limited appetites, but the angles are wonderful in the bowl shape. It makes for great sight lines from any seat. That, I suspect, might be the most expensive feature to reproduce in new construction. It would be a shame to go from a concrete shaped structure to a metal frame straight line structure that looks like the seating for baseball that looks cheap.

The original design allowed for a 2nd deck on each side to allow a 40-50 K capacity. Supposedly, this could still be done, but I don’t want to see us do an Akron w/ seats that never have been filled.

How many potential fans does this cost? Enough to pay for them in 1, 2 or at most 3 years?bgbill wrote:Hand rails.

Season starts first week of November...ca we get the renovations done in time?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

With no fans allowed we have 12 months to demolish and rebuild. One side at leastFlipper wrote:Season starts first week of November...ca we get the renovations done in time?

This would certainly be appreciated, but then you'd have to have an army of staff constantly manning the length of the rails to ceaselessly spray and wipe sanitizer for fear of everyone who used the rail dropping dead of a virus.bgbill wrote:Hand rails.
Re: New Football Stadium
A bunch of years ago, back in 2011 maybe, there was an RFP by BGSU for a firm to study the structural integrity of the Doyt, then provide estimates for stadium upgrades including box seating and press box improvements, and also for a new stadium.
Did OSPORTS win the bid? And if so, I assume the stadium was determined to be structurally stable given that we still use the stadium six times a year, though I've heard no confirmed follow up of the sorts. The freeze thaw cycle of northwest Ohio does a number on large concrete structures.

That freeze/thaw cycle also does the same kind of number on my arthritic back!
