@ Appalachian State (11/30)
Following today's 101-78 win over South Carolina State, our Falcons (1-1) head to Boone, NC on Monday, November 30 at 6:00pm to take on the Appalachian State Mountaineers (2-0). The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
App State is 2-0, with an 81-61 win over our prior opponent South Carolina State and an unreal (and likely meaningless) blowout win over the "Carver Cougars" by a score of 105-23. Carver is apparently a Bible College from Atlanta, so they aren't an NCAA Division I team, to my knowledge. I don't know that I would put too much stock in that win, but it'll be interesting to see how we stack up on Monday night on short rest.
Should be a fun one. Let's take today's win and turn it into a win steak, eh? Go Falcons - beat App State!

According to Nick from the Blade, Matiss is expected to be out until late December or early January. So he'll be good for the bulk of the MAC schedule, but he will likely miss the currently scheduled conference games against Buffalo and potentially Kent State in December.
Buffalo and Kent both have some size, so missing him in those games will hurt.

Any mention of what the injury is?mbenecke wrote:According to Nick from the Blade, Matiss is expected to be out until late December or early January. There wasn't (to my knowledge), but I do remember that he had a knee issue back when he first got here, which is why he missed his first season.

Huger said that Matiss has started running so you can speculate from there on his injury.

This game being so soon after the last is really throwing me off, but we have BG basketball again tonight! Should be an interesting one on the road.

Pretty wild start so far, both teams playing fast and a little out of control.
Under 16, BG leads 4-2. Swingle and Turner with the buckets for us early.

We just went ultra-small. I think Diggs is technically the 4 right now. We'll see where that goes for us.

Under 12, App State leads 15-13. Juice has been solid so far, but we've turned the ball over too much - already 4 in 8 minutes.

Under 8, App State is up 19-17. Not a whole lot going offensively for either team right now. Feels like the team that starts getting shots to fall first will win.

Re: @ Appalachian State (11/30)
I really struggle with Huger's automatic hook on guys with 2 fouls in the first half. I get the idea, but it's always the case - there's never been a time in his time here that he doesn't pull them and sit them, regardless of the situation or player.
Juice just picked up his 2nd with 5 minutes until halftime and he's likely going to sit until after the half. If it's me, I'm trusting my 5th year senior to do what's right and stay out there to keep us in the game.

Under 4, App State is up 28-23. They're a legitimately solid defensive team, and we need to crack the code before too long. I'd love to see us get Diggs more involved on offense.

Zeigler was playing out of control the part I saw. I really wonder how good we actually are.

HALFTIME: App State 36, BG 34
The Mountaineer lead grew to as many as 8, but BG had a strong close to the half to get within 2, despite Juice being off the court.
This is a winnable game, but it won't come easy. We'll have to take it from them.
