Whistle at b-ball game?

Post by FliccGirl »

So who was blowing the whistle during the basketball game? Dakich obviously thought it was the band... I was pissed at whoever was doing it, and would only assume he would be ten times more so. But I gotta admit, it ticked me off a bit that he assumed it was us, and went so far as to walk over and stand in front of us, waving his arms and telling us not to blow whistles...

(I realize a piccolo can be misleading... but I'm pretty sure that wasn't it.)

Was anyone blowing through the mouthpiece?? Sometimes you can suck air through one and it will make a whistle sound or you can close off the cup end and blow over the other end (like a bottle to make the boat sound). I didn't hear anything down where I was so I doubt Dan did either. The reason for going and yelling at the noise source was so we didn't get a technical for it.

Yeah-- I know about the possibility of a technical. (I might not be an expert but I'm not completely ignorant.) But they were saying someone in the crowd was blowing an actual whistle, weren't they?

Take this for what it's worth, but I was in the band, and I never heard the whistle that they were talking about, so I have my doubts about it being someone in the band. It was probably a stupid CMU fan trying to get us a technical.

Since you don't come to games, we find no reason to have security there.

If by pavlov you mean myself, and by jackass you mean my father, then I officially don't like you. There is no need to call my dad a jackass.

And Ornithologist, who replied to me, happens to be my father.

You wanna watch where you step in the band forum, golfertk.... most of us know each other in real life, and tend to look warily upon outsiders unless they have something to contribute. Just fair warning.

Since this thread was brought back to life....

They had a problem with a whistle at the hockey game on Saturday as well. First time the ref heard it he had the PA announcer inform the crowd about it. When we heard it later in the game it almost sounded like a little girl screaming. Might've been the same case with the basketball game. Sounded like it was coming from section A or B.
