There are also rumors that Jordan was close to picking up several ACC offers and he wanted to make himself look more available to bigger opportunities.mbenecke wrote:I understand the thought behind this one. McDonald has another 2 years of eligibility, and Keller/Melton both will technically have 5 after this year. Hard to break through in that crowded room, at the moment.fredthefalcon wrote:Another 2021 de-commit. This time it is the only QB thus far in the class. Jacory Jordan of Jacksonville FL . He originally committed in early April.
Still think we should definitely be looking to add a QB in this class, though. Jordan looked like a good one, and that's a tough loss to have.

That makes a lot of sense. Tough to keep guys that talented in the fold, especially when you're losing.

Cassius Howell, a 3-star ATH from Kansas City, MO. It’s reported that he’ll be a DE for us.

This is probably what Loeffler was alluding to on his media avail today. He seemed pleased about this one.mbenecke wrote:Cassius Howell, a 3-star ATH from Kansas City, MO. It’s reported that he’ll be a DE for us.

Didn’t Scot also say we’d be taking a QB too? Of course this might have been before the decommit.

He said they planned to, and it was after. So I’d guess they have a backup plan in mind.Class of 61 wrote:Didn’t Scot also say we’d be taking a QB too? Of course this might have been before the decommit.

Most assuredly Loeffler and co have a backup and a backup to the backup in mind at QB.

I wonder if Loeffler is thinking of the Syracuse transfer or of someone else. The Blade's write up of Loffler's comments hints the latter might be true.mbenecke wrote:He said they planned to, and it was after. Rocco Hicks, a 6’4 DE from Blue Valley West HS in Stilwell, Kansas. He also had an offer from Northern Iowa.

Re: 2021 recruits
Looks like he's 6'4" 240lbs, and was being heavily recruited as a lacrosse player, so I'm wondering if that's why he flew under the football radar a bit. I like the lacrosse aspect. Those guys absolutely beat the s**t out of each other on the field. Shows solid toughness.mbenecke wrote:Rocco Hicks, a 6’4 DE from Blue Valley West HS in Stilwell, Kansas. In addition to toughness, I'd say it also shows athleticism. Takes a lot for a DE-sized human to be able to keep pace out there on a lacrosse field, so you know he's got decent speed and flexibility.drumstix2388 wrote:Looks like he's 6'4" 240lbs, and was being heavily recruited as a lacrosse player, so I'm wondering if that's why he flew under the football radar a bit. Jaedyn McKinstry from St. John's (Toledo) committed as a PWO. Listed as a 6'5" 210lbs WR. Inspirational story, as he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2018 and given a 50% chance to survive. Welcome to the Falcons, Jaedyn.

Re: 2021 recruits
As a late addition to the 2021class, we have added 6'3, 310 lb DT Denver Warren (Brother Rice HS - Oak Lawn, IL) into the fold. After high school, he went the prep route for one season (not sure what that means for eligibility) but this is a HUGE get.
During high school, he was a high 3-star recruit, and he had offers from Illinois, LSU, Michigan, Boston College, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Duke, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Penn State, Syracuse, Tennessee, Toledo, Western Michigan, and Wisconsin.
His .8689 rating from 247 makes him easily the best player in our 2021 class, and the 2nd-highest rated commitment in school history.

Re: 2021 recruits
Prep school doesn't affect eligibility (Roger Lewis went prep route). Looks like he was committed to U of M at some point. Curious why he went this route and lost the P5 offers. Grades are the most likely culprit but looking through his Twitter, he had a 1220 SAT score which is more than enough to play football basically anywhere.mbenecke wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 6:40 pm As a late addition to the 2021class, we have added 6'3, 310 lb DT Denver Warren (Brother Rice HS - Oak Lawn, IL) into the fold. Either way, very glad he chose here! With that extra year of development, he is a very likely starter from day 1.
EDIT: After watching his hudl video, looks like a great prospect. Just needs to get a bit quicker. Stays low to the ground and keeps his legs motoring. Reminds me of Chris Jones when he played here.

Didn’t see Warren listed w/ rest of 20 signed players. Did he Actually sign, or was it a rumor?
