Akron Game
Re: Akron Game
The administration needs to clean house but those funds aren’t available so this is what we get for three more years.

Quit supporting the program then.kdog27 wrote:I didn’t think it was possible to do worse than Mike Jinks but it’s actually quite possible BG has.

Do you think Dave Clawson would have had that press conference after the Kent St. game?

Yeah I'm not being ridiculous asking for the head coach to be fired. I'm just stating the facts of what three different coaches in five years has done.kdog27 wrote:Quit supporting the program then.jpfalcon09 wrote:There's nothing good to take away from this game right now. Re: Akron Game
I'm seriously wondering if BG will be competitive in football again in my lifetime. We all knew we were facing a total rebuild at the beginning of last year, but I see nothing being built. There is no improvement, no progress that I can look to. We are getting absolutely smoked by a winless team that is not themselves, competitive in a bad league. To say the sky is falling would be optimistic...........it already fell some time ago and we can't get out from under it. This program is going to be a mess for a long time to come, regardless of who does or doesn't support it.
Re: Akron Game
It would take an Urban Meyer to save this sinking ship and that isn’t happening. It honestly would make more sense to end the football and baseball programs. Just concentrate on basketball and hockey which we can afford. We can’t afford to keep all four and we will never be able to afford being competitive in the FBS.

Everyone needs a dose of reality. You have decimated recruiting classes from the Jinks years. There was no spring ball this year. A very modified fall camp.Beaker wrote:I'm seriously wondering if BG will be competitive in football again in my lifetime. Is it bad? Absolutely. There's no denying that. But thinking another coach is going to come in here and magically fix things is delusional. It's only going to compound issues.

Re: Akron Game
Yep, reality is Bowling Green might have done the unthinkable. Hired a football coach who is worse than Mike Jinks at and additional 100K per year. It's just money. Blame Babers, blame Jinks, blame Kingston. Blame everyone but the people actually in the building who had to have a soon to be fired coach from Boston College.jpfalcon09 wrote:Everyone needs a dose of reality. Re: Akron Game
He did. At the conclusion of the 2010 season. Called out veterans for utter lack of leadership. Called out the previous staff for gutting the program. Reminded the fans and his bosses that the AD said 2009 could be decent but 2010 would be a disaster.guest44 wrote:Do you think Dave Clawson would have had that press conference after the Kent St. game?
You have selective memory.

Re: Akron Game
The punt block sums up the attention to detail from this staff....we have a secondary line of 3 blockers for protection and a guy goes right down the middle untouched for the block. That’s coaching right there.
Re: Akron Game
Haha, did he call out the previous coaches? Did he say Urban Meyer "used BGSU"? You said Akron fans should be all over the AD? Are you know going to get all over the BGSU AD? Or will you wait until he is gone?MarkL wrote:He did. At the conclusion of the 2010 season. Called out veterans for utter lack of leadership. Called out the previous staff for gutting the program. Re: Akron Game
As far as I'm concerned the staff gets a mulligan for this year. The program hit rock bottom when Kingston hired Jinks and it has stayed there for five years now. With few exceptions like last year's win over UT, it is five years of 77-3 blowouts to Memphis, three or more possession losses to conference teams, leaderless classes, players kicking women in the face, players getting in fights over spring breaks, coaches getting in bar fights, and teams that are more freshman than anything.
But mulligans are one time deals. I'm not football dumb. I know bad football when I see it. I know missed blocks which I see consistently. I know missed assignments on defense. Next year there has to be improvement. Not bowl eligibility, not utter turnaround. But visible tangible improvement. Otherwise I may start losing faith in the staff's ability to coach.

No that was years prior.
I was on the AD in 2018. I'm not on the AD right now because he fired Jinks. And has a vision to slowly course correct. I have to let the course run for at least as long as Jinks had to destroy the program.

I hope you mean the university administration and start at the TOP of the athletic department and work down!
