I read Butch Jones is going to Arkansas State. Good hire. I thought there was a decent chance his name would show up in our search a couple years ago.

Wow. Malzahn is out at Auburn. Seems that beating Alabama in 2017 and 2019 does no good for 2020.

And of course the big elephant in the room in Ann Arbor. Harbaugh will be given a lower base salary contract. Nobody play any tiny violin for his savings account please. No telling if Harbaugh will accept it and be around in 2021 or not.

The Auburn job will be highly attractive. Especially because Saban has to be retiring soon so the next coach has the opportunity to seize control of the rivalry. But if the right coach is expressing interest in Auburn, I could see Michigan making a move to steal the candidate. Like Georgia did in stealing Kirby Smart from South Carolina. Auburn and Michigan are both jobs that are so difficult because they have a superpower of a rival.

Also Lovie Smith out at Illinois. He was getting things working there last year and then back to the Big Ten west cellar this year. That is a job where it seems hard to win but shouldn't be given location. Illinois should be able to recruit Chicago suburbs where there's plenty of good football and also challenge Iowa and Wisconsin for local recruits.

Clark Lea is the coach at Vanderbilt. He was on Clawson's team.

LB coach in 2012. Pretty incredible that two straight Notre Dame DCs - Elko and Lea - were coaches for the 2012 BGSU Falcons. Damn that defense was amazing. So long as they weren't chasing down Dri Archer.

Sean Lewis seems to be a leading candidate for the Illinois job, from the radio talk shows.

Art Briles has been a HS coach in Texas for a couple years and he just resigned. Don't be stunned if he is roaming the sidelines in Lubbock next year.

TTU fired their OC so we will see. I read Liberty interested if Freeze leaves.

This is what I was referencing about Briles. But since then there's been an announcement that Texas Tech is retaining their coach. Briles is probably coming back somewhere soon because ... priorities.

I've been reading that Liberty wants Briles if Hugh Freeze takes another job.

That man and that place deserve each other... ](*,)
