For those who have Flo, the ECHL kicks off tonight. The South Carolina Stingrays ( Cooper, DeSalvo, Letourneau) vs. Greenville Swamp Rabbits ( R Bednard). The other game sees the KC Mavericks vs. Indy Fuel (Connor McDonald).

Edit: turns out there are more games but you get the idea.

UAF announced they're not playing this year. WCHA will basically be the CCHA plus UAH for its last year.

Last comment on the ECHL. After our game I flipped on the Florida Everblades just in time to see Lukas Craggs head to the box. He also had 2 goals and an assist. I'm going to enjoy having that Flo subscription this year.

Non-college hockey related but Jordan Sigalet was named the director of goaltending this morning for the Calgary Flames.

In place of the 2 canceled series with the Alaska schools in January, we've added 2 non-league series with Northern Michigan (home) and Bemidji State (away). They won't count for the standings, but thinking about the back half of the schedule, how it all happens in a row, is a little crazy. The non-league games are singled out here, but it's still a pretty stacked stretch to take on all in a row, with no Alaska "breaks" in there.

vs. Bemidji State
vs. Northern Michigan*
@ Bemidji State*
vs. Michigan Tech
@ Minnesota State
vs. Lake Superior State
@ Northern Michigan

We open with Ferris and close with UAH, and that's the entire league schedule this year. No repeats with conference opponents. Absolutely zero guarantees here, and it's going to be a battle. Every win we can have is absolutely crucial when January hits.

The AHL announced yesterday three teams packed it in for the season due to Covid related fan restrictions (i.e. no $): Charlotte Checkers (FL), Milwaukee Admirals (TN) and Springfield Thunderbirds. This impacts opportunities for Craggs (TN) and Bednard (FL) who will likely stay in the ECHL, and Rauhauser (FL) who I am guessing will stay in Europe.

Bednard was just announced as the ECHL goaltender of the week.

The Walleye cancelled their season today as well.
