Len Matela

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

I had a nice conversation with Len yesterday. He sent me a couple of photos of him playing against Michael Huger's team. I plan to have an "official" interview with him soon. If anyone has any questions for this former Falcon standout, post them here. He's a regular reader of the site and I'll make sure to get them answered for you.

Lenny is easily recognizable... Huger is #14 (with the headband). According to Len, Huger is on his way out... he's in his mid to late 30's and is on the verge of retirement. "The Maestro!!"

Ahh, the days of pickup games at the rec. I played across from Huger quite a few times. He seemed even quicker up close and personal like that

So, who all remembers the game in '91/92 (UT I think, but not 100% sure) when he went end to end with about 6 secs on the clock to hit a baseline jumper and win the game? Good times.

I remember in Feb. 1993 when he hit a baseline jumper with that much left or less to beat Kent 49-48...

That could be the game I was thinking of. I wasn't sure if he was done in '92 or '93.

I heard a rumor that Matela is caving in and getting married sometime this year. The girl must have fell in love with his moves down low.
"I don't anticipate leaving," Urban Meyer said. "I look forward to being here a long time."
