And the snub has kids on team shaking their heads.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

It's a shame for sure. Hard work should be rewarded and this sends mixed messages.roguewarrior wrote:And the snub has kids on team shaking their heads.

Re: Transfers
Wow. Good ole Loeffler. Maybe someone else knows, was Raymore ever put on scholarship?
Re: Transfers
Did any of the players react when Steve Morrison was hired to Associate Head Coach after being out of college football since 2012? He went from Linebackers coach at a then horrible Eastern Michigan to a six figure salary at BGSU, while being out of the industry in between. Loeffler brought up “using BGSU” unprovoked.
Re: Transfers
Very much to Diata Burns's credit, he has nothing but great things to say about BG's coaches and program on his twitter account. It sounds like there are no hard feelings at all.

Re: Transfers
Pretty sure children of fulltime BGSU employees qualify for tuition waivers and wouldn't require athletic scholarships nor count against the limits. I seem to remember that being the case when the previous basketball coach and baseball coach both had their sons on the squads.guest44 wrote:This smells like a VanGorder special. Re: Transfers
I'm wondering if this is more of a funding or numbers issue since we have 21 recruits coming in and only losing 2 players so far. We might not be comfortable going too far over the normal 85 scholarships. I'm guessing most group of 5 schools will stay close to 85 especially with the pandemic cuts while the major schools have 100-110 scholarship players
Re: Transfers
This is a good thought, because Loeffler mentioned in the podcast episode he did with Todd Walker that Zimmerly and McKinstry would be scholarship players after one year, so I think he is trying to dance lightly around all of the scholarship issues that are sure to come up with the low budget programs.fanatic13 wrote:I'm wondering if this is more of a funding or numbers issue since we have 21 recruits coming in and only losing 2 players so far. Morris is going to the Reese's Senior Bowl. Best of luck to him in his NFL aspirations.

Has the NCAA officially announced an increase in scholarships allowed? I missed it if they have. A one year exemption isn't going to be enough for everything to shake out recruit-wise.fanatic13 wrote:I'm wondering if this is more of a funding or numbers issue since we have 21 recruits coming in and only losing 2 players so far. NCAA stipulated that a senior who returns for the 2021 season won't count against that school's scholarship limit. Beyond that there's nothing.pdt1081 wrote:Has the NCAA officially announced an increase in scholarships allowed? I missed it if they have. I'd wager it's very likely that BG and most G5 programs are going to budget as close to 85 scholarships as possible for next year however. The big boys in P5 aren't going to care. Definitely a legitimate reason why someone like Burns was told he won't be given one.
This article does a good job explaining things:

Indeed. I got to meet his father at a game a couple years ago and both Q and him love BG. Hope he takes advantage.hammb wrote:GOOD FOR HIM! That's the Cadillac of postseason all star games!jpfalcon09 wrote:Morris is going to the Reese's Senior Bowl. Best of luck to him in his NFL aspirations.

Re: Transfers
They already are. You don't get an invite to the Senior Bowl unless the NFL wants you there. It's run by NFL people, for NFL people. The coaching staffs for both teams are the staffs from the worst NFL teams (those at the top of the draft). The entire week has become a sort of "job fair" for the NFL. Pretty much the entirety of front office and coaching people will be there (even those looking for work, again it's almost like a job fair).Schadenfreude wrote:He really was a star. The game itself is irrelevant, and most of these people will be long gone before the game kicks off. But every NFL team will be there to poke/prod, he'll get official weigh in numbers recorded, and of course they will be watching his every move at practice.
Bottom line, a good week at Senior Bowl practice will almost certainly get a guy drafted.
