BG beats UConn 8-3, off to 4-1 start

Sure, GREAT WIN, but saying it's our best win so far is not saying a whole lot, in fact its down-right obvious. UConn is 3-3 now and our other wins were against Murray St (2) and Northeastern (1), not exactly the best the baseball world has to offer. I believe this team is going to be really good this year, but saying this is our best win thus far is not exactly the biggest of complements. Maybe the fact that they convincing beat Northeastern and UConn would be saying a little more.

It's baseball, your in a tournament and you are pitching many, many arms, and wins are wins. They are all D-I schools. Sure we're probably better than some of the teams we have beaten, but you take wins any way you can get them. Look no further than Kentucky, they are picked to finish in the bottom of the SEC but had to score 7 runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to avoid losing to NAIA Cumberland College (who is good in NAIA to their credit) in an 11-10 win in Lexington. UK has also beaten Buffalo and Toledo three times each and UK's 9-1 start has baseball publications taking notice of their start (it's where I read about UK).

As for UConn, their picked right in the middle off the Big East (ranked 8th in all conferences by Baseball America) with Villanova and 'Nova just stomped Top-25 Florida 11-1 before falling in a pair of 6-5 games in Gainesville. These are game UF should have won easily, but it's baseball. Good pitching and defense can have you or keep you in any game. These wins can only help BG build confidence and prepare us for the MAC which is a decent baseball conference.
