Xfer eligibility

Post by Globetrotter »

So I guess all the transfers don't have to wait a year now? Not sure who and how that effects but I would assume its easier now to get a guy at the half semester point.

At this point I would take the dude from Findlay who burned us o the inside so much just to have consistent competence in the middle.

I so hope Matiss comes back stronger, a bit more of a bully, and with his jumper in tact. That would complete this team so well.

Here is our current roster...

1. Metheny-
2. Fields-Fulcher
3. Turner-Diggs
4. Plowden-Young-Turner
5. Swingle-Washington

Fields and Turner and probably Fulcher can all back up Metheny,,,,,,,but come on...go get an ivy league guy or 2 and fill out the roster.

AND-3 of those players are seniors and might not be back and the language around Matiss knee sounds terrible...so we have 7 Schollies for next year? With 1 going to a big? 6 potential open schollies for next year? 3 Very good to great freshman to build off of.

1. Metheny-
2. Fields-Fulcher
3. Young
4. Turner
5. Swingle-Washington

It also gets complicated when you factor in the idea that all 3 seniors could technically be back next year on a free season of eligibility that doesn't count against the NCAA's scholarship limit. I don't expect Turner to return (time for that young man to get paid!), but I could see a scenario where we get an extra year of Diggs/Plowden next season.

The lack of clarity is enough to make me need a drink. Good thing it's NYE then, eh?

I didnt realize they were ignoring the scholarship limit.

We'll see how BG handles it. Could vary between schools based on finances (Can BG afford 3 extra scholarships in addition to a full roster? Maybe not, but bigger schools can), but yes - the current rule is that everyone is allowed to return and that it won't count against the scholarship limit, as far as I understand it.

We really should go sign another guy. There are 4-5 bigs that could play a handful of minutes including a good shot blocker who averaged about 1 a game in ten minutes. https://www.verbalcommits.com/transfers ... ivision=D1

Yup. Here we go again. If we have a scholarship, we should go right out and fill it with a body asap.
