That, and have you taken a good look at the massive amount of guys who enter the portal each year? And then take a look at the large percentage of them who enter the portal with hopes of finding greener pastures and never land in a new home? Sure the portal works for the upper tier guys, but the middle of the pack guys and lower tier ones end up in lower divisions, at JUCO's, or often back at home. The portal is becoming a real reality check for the high number of kids who arrive on campus wanting instant gratification and playing time. And let's be honest, right now, BG is loaded with a lot of players other FBS teams have zero interest in. For many of them, if they leave BG, where do they really expect to go?

Something I have pointed out (while being harangued for mentioning it by some) is that a great many in the portal are told to leave. Others follow their pattern of committing, de-committing, committing, then leaving for the portal when they don’t like it.... and with all of them comes the baggage that no other coach wants to sign up for. Some folks looked at every BG kid in the portal as a BG coaching failure/loss of talent..... very few are. This is very likely the same across the board; therefore, trolling for BG prospects in the portal is a not a good idea either. Believe it or not, lots of kids lived for offers and visits and the hype.... but really don’t love football, or the grind that comes with it.

No, Stage started every game for us at C this year. So another big blow, especially to a unit already in need of a lot of help. And remember, all these kind of defections can't be recouped with additional recruits. BG will be chasing that 85 limit for years with the number of guys it loses every year.

Noah Massey has committed to Division II Angelo State.

I get it, wanting to go home to Texas. It's hard to stick around so far from home when the HC that recruited you is gone - and now he goes back to Texas to attend Mike Jinks' alma mater.

Their OC is also Kevin Kilmer, who recruited Massey to BG.

This program is becoming more and more of a joke by the day as opposed to the years or months. The defections, for whatever the reasons, continue to flow like the losses on the field, and we're so far behind on the numbers and simply can't stop the bleeding. Which, will be one more excuse that's used as to why BG can't compete even with its own peers.
