Dribble dribble dribble dribble dribble dribble. Offense is giving off some major Louis Orr era vibes tonight

With 12:18 to play in the 2nd half, Ball State still lead 58-46.

11:07 left, Ball State leads 63-46.

Truly, they just can't miss. Not much we can do about it.

Under 8, we're down 16 - and I think I'm going to bail for the night.

13 turnovers, 8 missed free throws, 4/18 from deep, only 17/43 from the field, out-rebounded by 14.

Tough one, fellas. Hard to win em all. Finish strong, then let's kick Buffalo's ass on Friday night.

Getting smashed on the boards and have no answer when they hedge ball screens. Tough one but with 3 straight blowout wins a regression game was bound to happen at some point, especially with Buffalo on national TV Friday. Just too bad it was this ugly.

That's not true at all. We are playing like garbage. Yeah their shooting percentages are better than their typical numbers but our defense is horrendous. When it's constant uncontested 3s and layups of course they're going to look good shooting. And they're destroying us on the glass as well.

How are we losing by 16 to Ball State? We literally stink at everything related to basketball tonight. These are the games that really bite you in the ass come seeding time. And the MAC tourney is no lock this year, so these could be the type of games that cost you the NCAA.

It's so hard to get royally pissed about a total clunker the way we've played lately, but man, if you want to win the championship you may not be able to afford more than 1 of these sorts of games.

This is a flop of epic proportions. Not going to win many games playing like this and failing to adjust to the high double team is not a positive sign. This is against a pretty subpar team too. This is embarrassing.

I should clarify - not much of what we did mattered, but we didn’t do a whole lot.

And you’re absolutely right. In a COVID year, we aren’t guaranteed the MAC tournament even happens, so we can’t afford 24 point home losses to mediocre teams.

Time to bounce back.

Well, that was pretty gross.

I have an idea - instead of taking Swingle out when he gets burned on the perimeter - but is also the only person rebounding and scoring - how about we play some weak side defense?

How come, when Swingle gets drawn to the perimeter, NOBODY is there in the paint?

If someone told me this was going to be a 24-point win, I sure as hell wouldn’t have expected it to be for Ball State. This reminds me a lot of the Wright State game, we simply got our @ss handed to us in both. As mentioned above, we’ve been playing well, but knowing what it takes to win the MACT, games like these are concerning. And it’s going to get MUCH tougher next time out as Buffalo now has Mballa back and he didn’t play vs us the first game.

Memo to Jason Knavel....games such as this explain the KenPom ranking for BGSU the past few seasons as much as the close wins. Bowling Green has been difficult to quantify for the ability to win nearly any game, and get blown out at home randomly too. The model is not biased against Bowling Green. As of this morning Bowling Green is 118, which is good for 3rd in the MAC.

A bounce back victory against Buffalo would certainly ease the pain of this loss, but man was that a clunker. We haven't laid a clunker since that Wright St. game and I was hoping we were past it, but guess not.

I have a very hard time getting super upset about a bad game when we've been playing so well, but we really can't afford more than 1 or 2 of those. You have to figure you're going to drop some games against the better teams in the MAC simply by being tougher competition. If this thing ends up giving the NCAA berth to the regular season champ a game like last night could come back to bite ya. UT is playing their asses off right now, luckily with the new schedule we get to play them twice so we have our opportunities to control things. There is leeway, but we just used some of it up in a game where we weren't even competitive.
