Looks like the bad news going into 2021 is the team will have the same biggest problem as in 2020: complete lack of veteran leadership coming from Jr and Sr classes. The good news: this will be unequivocally Loeffler's team. Hardly anyone on roster has been coached by anyone else. Despite complete roster flux in the older classes, the younger classes have been stable along with the coaching staff. There should be a talented base of young players with more than a few months of experience that are fully immersed in the culture the coaching staff is establishing.

Not saying the team will be good. I don't think it is possible to be good with a freshman / sophomore led team. Just hoping to see some good indications starting this spring.

He was a 5th year senior this past fall, so it appears he's looking to play a 6th season elsewhere.

No judgement against that at all. If you're looking for a 6th college season, you're probably looking more into your future beyond football and getting a graduate degree from another institution is valuable.

With the flurry of defections BG has had in the last few days (and you know more are coming), this could end up being one of the biggest group of players lost through defections that we've had in years. And all of that coming from a team that could ill afford to lose anyone. It's the recipe for a massive disaster, coming from a team that is already one itself. This is going to be incredibly ugly...

I'm no mathematician, but I think the math of the transfer portal is not going to work out well for BGSU unless it also adds transfers. 15 leaving and zero arriving is probably not good. Has anyone asked if this Michigan glory days staff even understands how the portal works? You know it's a bad day in BGSU Football land when they tweet the academic accomplishments randomly. Those tweets are saved for the rough days , like 3 players leaving a day, for a week. BGSU is a much less attractive school without campus life. Bowling Green, a public university for the public good, raised student fees by 4.1% in the middle of a pandemic.

Timed for release on a Saturday. Maybe it's time to put the regular students in hotels like the athletes, or do they just not report athletes cases?

Problem for teams and players is that the transfer portal counts against your yearly 25 recruit limit. Clawson recently talked about it. Not sure where we're at for the 20-21 school year to get transfers in

THIS!!! THANK YOU! This is why every time I see a transfer, and ESPECIALLY when we see the numbers we're having like this right now, it's crippling to a team like BG which is already well below the 85 because we cannot, I repeat - CANNOT - fill these voids with simply trying to add transfers ourselves, because they count against our 25 markers for recruiting each year. There are a number of people who fail to realize this scenario and simply shrug off transfers. People - it's hurting BG big time right now. We're beyond a "young team" and this mass exodus of guys leaving is crippling this team and program. It's simply setting us even farther back than we already our and pushing our target off trying to get our numbers right at 85 farther and farther away.
GO BG!!!

Something is not right with this staff. There are way to many leaving and we are way past the point of running off players from the previous coach. 2021 has got to show improvement because 2020 was a regression.

I will say, not to downplay the losses (at this point in the rebuild, every loss does sting), but we only had 15 seniors this year. I don’t know the breakdown between scholarship/non-scholarship players, but that’s a relatively small senior class to lose, right? That was redshirt and 4-year seniors combined.

So I wonder if being a young team has anything to do with these transfers. A lot of it seems to be older non-contributors, who may be passed up by younger guys and now no-longer have a role on the squad.

We should be returning a fairly large number of starters/contributors from last year if things remain this way. It’s an opportunity to get better. Obviously you want to be at 85, but continuity and whatnot helps to stabilize the program so they have at least a prayer of moving forward. And I guess the “good news” here is that we really aren’t losing Loeffler guys, so the young players are seemingly buying in and the program will be able to build back up once we stop losing older guys without a role.

I dunno. I just feel like they’re only a loss in terms of being able to say we have 85 scholarship players, as opposed to actual on-field and in-locker room contributions.
