Correct. If we tie UNO, we will own the tie breaker. Since UM is up 3 points on OSU, there is no way we can tie UNO and not end up with the tiebreaker. We need at least three points from UM for them to not win the league if OSU sweeps.bgbill wrote: EDIT: upon further review, it appears the tiebreaker with uno is our respective records against the teams ahead of us.....more detail than I feel like doing
EDIT #2: if we're tied with uno, michigan takes first place....we would have a better record against michigan (took 1 point) than uno (swept by michigan), so we'd get 4th ahead of uno.
All we need is 1?

You know, that is a question that has really never been answered for me. Why do they hate us? I know why WE hate (and deservingly so) them, but have never figured out what we did to them. I mean, they always get to play us at home. Only one weekend have they ever been to BG. Is it just because we got their buddy two-gun (Graf) fired?Freddie wrote:I'll bet the UNO fans are realy conflicted this weekend...they all hate us with a passion, and need us to get swept in order to keep 4th place. But that means they have to root for UM to win the conference title...and UNO hates the wolverines almost as much as they hate us.
Phi or Die
It's a long story, but basically their hatred of us comes from before they were even in the CCHA.
The year before they joined the CCHA, we played out there for 2 games (sound familiar?) On Friday night, we won fairly handily, if I remember correctly and some of our players were "raising the roof" as they were leaving the ice. The next night we were beated quite handily and a fight ensued after a supposed cross-check from Scott Hewson. (I dispute this face, due to the notes that I took from that game. I wasn't at the games, but I used to take notes for a player's family who couldn't listen to the games as they weren't on the internet then. In my notes, Scott Hewson's name isn't even mentioned...another player got a late penalty.) So, their hatred started then and Scott Hewson was the most hated man in Omaha.
In the next few years, Tyler Masters and Buddy Powers joined that list due to some things they said that were quoted in the local Omaha papers. Definite locker room material. So, their hatred grew.
I think (in my personal opinion) my hatred of them stems from the fact that their some of their "fans" have gone out of their way to be complete A-holes to us and our team. (Are you reading this AJ???) Although, I must say that going to the games in Omaha this year, their bark is MUCH worse than their bite. One of our fans even wore his Hewson jersey to the games and not ONE SINGLE word was said to him...or any of us. We were in Omaha right after the "sharpie" incident and all of their talk for weeks was how the "red army" was going to make such a big deal out of it. They didn't...not even close. And for all of his talk, AJ is nothing but a short bald guy who didn't even have his team's colors on that weekend...he was wearing a Lakers jersey.
Anyone else can feel free to add anything I might have forgotten, but that's the "rivarly" in a nutshell. I think it's kinda hard to be a rival if they NEVER play here!
GO FALCONS!!

Why would anyone from BG know we are "rivals". They have played in BG--what--3 times at the very most??? So help me, if we have to travel out there again next year, I think BG better look into the CCHA scheduling. Sounds to me like DuhMavs are doing the scheduling!!Falcon Fanatic wrote: As far a DUH mav fan base, as a whole, they were just looking for a "rival" back when they were about to join the league, and through a series of stupid events, they gave us that title, though hardly a person in BG knew about it, unless they read USCHO regularly back then.
OK.....
This is going to be my only post here because I'm just gonna try and get something across. (No I'm not gonna bash you because I'm not looking for a fight)
As much a "rivalry" this is, nobody has the right to threaten people.
Seriously, which CCHA school (besides BG) did the most to help Jordan Sigalet feel better??? Michigoon, Ohio State? (No they just sent cards.) UNO fans sent a UNO signed jersey which Jordan says,"It's one of the most treasured items in my house."
Even though we are rivals on the ice and you may think UNO fans are POS's just have a home game with Michigoon and see how their fans are. MSU, their fans are even worse.
Bottom line, our fans are not the worst in the country, heck we aren't even probably close to the worst fans.
As for our fan's reactions to Jordan's condition, you can just take a look at these threads from mavpuck.com, then see how bad you think we are.

It's not all the UNO fans, it's just a select few that are INCREDIBLY annoying (AJ comes to mind immediately) on the boards. Several MAV fans can hardly make a post without mentioning BG in a trash-talk way, often times when the post has NOTHING to do with BG. We just find it stupid and idiotic and it seems so pointless any more. And we KNOW that when the kids are off the ice, it's a totally different thing. What the MAV fans did for Jordan was WONDERFUL and truly appreciated by him, his family, the BG team and the BG fans. That was a truly great thing to do that REALLY touched Jordan's heart. We also know that the Michigan fans are in a class by themselves. Trust me, we have had years of practice hating them, their fans, and their arena atmosphere. Your hatred of them isn't isolated by any stretch. Thanks for coming on our board and being decent.uno_fan wrote:OK.....

Hardly worth the time to register for that huh??
In response to jimmyomaha, you are also correct, we got 0, but we aren't too upset, all in all. We are hosting HOME ICE for the first time in 10 years, and the hockey program is coming back to where it belongs...heading towards the top of the standings. Next year will be even better, the future recruiting classes are looking pretty impressive and we couldn't be happier with the coaching staff and how they are running this program. Believe me, we aren't crying over that one point!! Quite an accomplishment, considering the cluster we were in this year. Falcon Hockey is fun again!!!! Good luck against Crazy Frank and his team. They won't be easy to sweep.

incredibly annoying? BG fans, earlier in this thread, were taking pot shots at UNO's fan base, UNO scheduling, and so forth. It is annoying to me you generalize all UNO fans because of the Red Army or AJ. The fact that some BG fan wore a Hewson jersey to Omaha and was upset that she was not assaulted speaks volumes about your general fan base. Just enjoy being behind UNO in the CCHA standings again and let's all pray that we meet in Detroit. We will bring cowbells and the like, you bring the duct tape, ball gag, gimp mask, and a rainbow of different colored sharpies. F'n perverts!!

Yep, that pretty much sums up many of your more vocal posters....you rank right up there with AJ. In fact, I'll bet you are AJ...afraid to come on here with your own handle?jimmyomaha wrote:incredibly annoying? Let me tell you somthing....if AJ (or you since I believe you are him) would let it die....it would die. He/you single handedly keep it alive since you obviously have no life outside of this one obsession. If you read the posts here without your blood red glasses on you would have noticed that the girl in question was surprised, NOT upset. On her first trip there she expected the majority of the fans to be like AJ since he's the most vocal (on line at least....his real live bark is more like a wimper) of all of the fans. Turns out the majority of the Omaha fans don't even care about the so called 'rivalry'. It's just a few members of the 'Red Army' that think one exists.
On my one trip out there I had a great time. The fans are great and the town is a fun place to visit. Fans like you probably keep a lot of fans here from missing out on a great time, thinking that it'll be brutal. Quit giving UNO a black eye because you are truly an embarassment to the program.
Come back if you want to talk hockey....otherwise crawl back under that rock you came out from.
PS. Given your obvious familiarity with the above mentioned implements.....who's the true pervert?
PSS. On second thought keep 'em coming....I'm sure the coach could use some bulliton board fodder if we do, indeed, meet you at the Joe.

BG Fan, actually it's not AJ. Sure sounds like him though. Maybe his protege?? It is actually someone calling himself theDude. See, jimmyomaha, we look at your board too. But, we at least have the decency not to come on your board and trash talk. I think if you might check, very few (if any) of the BG fans who post on your board talk trash. I remember quite clearly a thread about Jordan's jersey and several of our fans writing in to thank your fans. I don't remember any of our fans going on your board and posting something with the clear intent of starting a flame war--which is what you did here. Then you get upset because we continue the thread and talk about SOME ( a VERY few ) of your fans and the FACT that your team has only played in our arena 4 times at the very most. There is one thread on your board right now--started by you and with a link to this thread--which does nothing but demean our fans and players. We are even chided because some of our newer fans in this thread asked some questions attempting to learn more about the game of hockey and how playoffs work. Why? What purpose does it serve? Make you feel more important?? More knowledgeable?? Think again. If you are going to start a flame war here, don't expect us to roll over and play dead. We will respond. And as BGFan said, if you want to talk hockey instead of trash, come on over. You are more than welcome.
