Re: Transfers
JOJ is the only loss that could sting. Stage was probably not going to start this year, but hurts depth wise with his loss. The walk ons are clearing space for the extra class. JOJ is from Texas, and had no beef with staff or playing time. Most of These guys will end up at home, out of football. Did anyone read Clawsons comments?????

Re: Transfers
Buffalo, Miami and Central have similar numbers in the 247 portal listing..... so I’m guessing it’s not the end of days.....

Re: Transfers
Losing Julian Ortega-Jones is going to hurt. 1, he represents 100% of receiving touchdowns by WR in the last two years, and 100% of receiving TD by anyone in 2020. Consequently he has 1 receiving TD. 2, he is the most experienced receiver so the young guys will have to step up.

Re: Transfers
Honestly, who cares if we have anybody transfer.....it's not like we are losing all-mac performers. We have high school talent level thanks to Dino and Jenks and now its time for this staff to show that they can recruit even just a little better. The program is embarrassingly bad

Re: Transfers
True Freshman WR Javonte Kinsey scored a nice receiving TD at Ohio U this past season. Him and former HS teammate and another true Freshamn this past season, Jhaylin Embry, give us some potential at WR. Embry was a started this season and saw a lot of end around sweeps early.MarkL wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 2:36 pm Losing Julian Ortega-Jones is going to hurt. 1, he represents 100% of receiving touchdowns by WR in the last two years, and 100% of receiving TD by anyone in 2020. Re: Transfers
Ah my bad. Had it as JOJ who scored that TD. Thanks for the correction. Good to see a true freshman step up.Dayons_Den wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 5:03 pmTrue Freshman WR Javonte Kinsey scored a nice receiving TD at Ohio U this past season. Re: Transfers
That's a tough one, considering he was (likely?) a starter next year, as he was in 2019 and 2020. But he was a redshirt junior this past fall, so he did give us his 4 years and likely earned his degree here.

Indeed, but there are some decent guys at LB behind him. Also, he is not gone until he is gone.... we’ll see if he quit his job before he got a new one....

Re: Transfers
Monkey see, monkey do it seems with these guys going in the portal.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.
Re: Transfers
I think someone already mentioned it here, but when you look at the number of players in the portal from basically any other school, BG is sitting right about average, if not below. Every school is seeing a ton of people enter the portal this year. Not an indictment on anything yet.

Re: Transfers
And that would be fine -IF - BG had its numbers at or near the full allotment like many teams do. But BG does NOT, which is why this is such an issue. There's a huge difference between teams who can afford to lose players compared to teams that cannot. And BG is without a doubt the latter. Loeffler has bemoaned this issue the past two years and yet this issue somehow still seems misunderstood by so many.BillyLP wrote: ↑Wed Jan 20, 2021 4:20 pm I think someone already mentioned it here, but when you look at the number of players in the portal from basically any other school, BG is sitting right about average, if not below. Re: Transfers
I imagine some of these guys are just sticking their toe in the transfer pool to see what kind of interest they can get. Which means many will return after finding out other D1 schools are not so interested. However, guys like JOJ or Jerry Roberts might get some interest.
Re: Transfers
JOJ's lone offer so far according to his twitter is Incarnate Word, an FCS team in San Antonio. If his goal is to be closer to home, that's a great landing spot, but a significant step down to a pretty middling FCS program. I'd be surprised if he doesn't get some interest from a school like UTSA or UTEP.Siborg wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 3:59 am I imagine some of these guys are just sticking their toe in the transfer pool to see what kind of interest they can get.
