I wouldn’t let them back, if it were my choice. Quit on the team (for whatever reason, good or bad) on the misguided hope of greener pastures..... sit in their room, not lifting or practicing or taking meetings....then waltz back in? No way.Siborg wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 3:59 am I imagine some of these guys are just sticking their toe in the transfer pool to see what kind of interest they can get. Which means many will return after finding out other D1 schools are not so interested. However, guys like JOJ or Jerry Roberts might get some interest.

Of course you wouldn't take them back because it increases the chances of your son getting more playing time.

I would like to know what goes on in your pathetic world, that makes you such a loathsome person?

Pretty interesting stuff here from Nick P. and The Blade. Nothing groundbreaking except that Loeffler says he plans to use the portal to fill out the remaining scholarships. I'd guess he'll be going for people with 3+ years of eligibility based on his previous comments.

Wow. Andrew Clair to the portal.
Re: Transfers
This is sad, but I've kinda been waiting for this one to happen. Andrew has been a great player and ambassador for BG for four years and has his degree now. He's been super injury prone and may just want a fresh opportunity to close out his career while having the opportunity to pursue a master's degree. Best of luck to him. No hard feelings at all.

Re: Transfers
Good luck to Clair wherever he goes!
An interesting finding: Clair had 4 straight 100 yard rush games as a true freshman in 2017. After that stretch, he had a total of just four more 100 yard rush games. Between a strong RB field in 2018 and injuries in 2019 and all the problems of 2020, he was unable to hit the same success. So I hope wherever he goes, he finds success and makes his new program a better one.

Clair is a grad transfer. He gave us 4 good years, and I can appreciate a guy wanting to move on after getting his degree. I wish him luck.
Time for the younger guys in that RB room to show what they’ve got. Excited to see guys like Terion Stewart get a bigger workload.

Re: Transfers
Andrew Clair has been a truly CLASS ACT since he’s been here. I’m hoping he’ll eventually stay, but I also understand he’s a STUDENT athlete. Got his degree which is still what it’s supposed to be about, so a grad transfer to get a Masters degree is quite understandable.
Good luck Andrew!

Re: Transfers
Good for him. Clair was integral to a lot of the culture change that Loeffler is trying to instill. He was part of the leadership group that really held things together after Jinks was let go and into the Loeffler hiring. It's a shame he couldn't stay healthy for much of his BG career.
I'm sure people with an anti-Loeffler agenda are going to point at this and say it's another example of Scot being the wrong choice for the job, but nothing is further from the truth.

Re: Transfers
Why wait til now to go into the portal? The timing would make me think that there is more to it than just a great kid looking for a better team.

The timing makes no sense at all. He won't be the last.

Re: Transfers
Timing? Where’s he going to go? No one taking anyone till after the signing day anyway. Most in our portal are not going anywhere. Maybe get picked up later, if a team hit with injuries or other issues. FYI the 5th year is not guaranteed.... it’s at the schools discretion.

Re: Transfers
Timing makes sense to me. He let Spring semester start and is getting everything covered to graduate in May. He will be a grad transfer with two years left if he chooses.
Re: Transfers
We don't have anyone leaving, but I just saw this on twitter and became curious.
Boston College RB David Bailey has entered the portal. In 28 games at BC (over 3 seasons) he rushed for 1,600 yards and 16 touchdowns. Do we think that's a name to watch, with his connection to Loeffler in the past? RB is a room where we have some talent, but it's all super young. I could see us bringing in an older guy to be the veteran in the room. Kid is also a bruiser at 6 foot, 240. I would enjoy seeing him run dudes over in the orange and brown.
