Re: vs. Michigan Tech (1/29-1/30)
FINAL: FALCONS WIN, 5-2!
On to Mankato for a series with championship-level stakes.

Great work getting the sweep this weekend. Excited to see the upcoming series. Should be a good one.

That’ll pretty much cement them in the NCAA Tourney. They may split or lose 2 at Mankato, but finishing with Lake State, NMU and Huntsville is about as easy as it gets. They’ll probably win 4 or 5 of the last six and they’ll be in. Such a strange year. Playing mostly the conference only schedules really makes it difficult to pick the best teams, but BG has the wins so they’ll be in the field.

It's not final until it's final. The sweeps of Bob Mo and Quinnipiac will greatly help the cause. But there's two games next weekend that mean more than getting into a tournament a month away.TommyG wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 9:52 pm That’ll pretty much cement them in the NCAA Tourney. If we knew what the tournament criteria was going to be this year, I'd agree with you. But it's been crickets from the NCAA.TommyG wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 9:52 pm That’ll pretty much cement them in the NCAA Tourney. Of course, after the game, Joe Shawhan (MTU head coach) is liking tweets about how bad the officials were. He's a jerk, and he's absolutely married to the "macho clueless coach" brand. Beating Tech is so much fun because he's an absolute tool, and there's nothing better than when a jag like him gets what he's due. I guess he's just mad because his team wasn't in the same class as ours? 6-3 and 5-2, sit down!
(There was also a very fun article posted before the series by our "friends" at Tech Hockey Guide, in which they used the first paragraph to say, "Every season there are one or two teams that I take the time and effort to give you a glance into why I think they are overrated. Last season it was Clarkson (9-6-3) and the year before it was NMU. This season’s candidate is Bowling Green so sit back and relax as I tell you my reasoning as to why the Falcons aren’t as good as everyone says." Absolute gold!)

Also saw a snide comment from one of their boosters about Gould, referencing his "inability to play behind his own blue line." Why is it Eigs can get him to buy in but Shawhan can't? Would love to hear how the Tech Nation rationalizes THAT one.

He went to Tech to play for Mel Pearson.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 10:10 am Also saw a snide comment from one of their boosters about Gould, referencing his "inability to play behind his own blue line." The way things are starting to look for the upcoming CCHA, Shawhan won't last another 5 years as head coach.

My point was that Shawhan couldn't keep him.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 10:18 amHe went to Tech to play for Mel Pearson.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 10:10 am Also saw a snide comment from one of their boosters about Gould, referencing his "inability to play behind his own blue line." Hmmmm...what's the phrase some folks use in a situation like this?mbenecke wrote: ↑Sun Jan 31, 2021 8:54 am Of course, after the game, Joe Shawhan (MTU head coach) is liking tweets about how bad the officials were. Someone may want to refresh our memories of the NCAA selections to remind us why nothing is in "cement" since there is no clear selection process.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 11:36 pmIf we knew what the tournament criteria was going to be this year, I'd agree with you.
