No no no, it's nothing as bad as the basketball news from last week, but he's got some very interesting info on the MACC game.

I like your signature. You a chilehead?? Have you ever met Dr. Hardy Eshbaugh down in Oxford, AKA, Dr. Pepper? If I'd have known then what I know now, I'd have stayed at Miami and become his protege.

I just blew some minds today in our accounting department because someone brought in a bag of jalapenos they had picked to share. So I popped one in my mouth and chewed it up. You'd have think I dropped trow and left a load on their floor with the reaction I got!!

I mean, what are they for if you don't eat them?!?!?!

it will never be on a weekend with the Big 12, SEC, and soon-to-be ACC title games on the Saturday after the season

I still don't see the point in messing with the rotating format...it has been successful for the last three years now

According to Fanning, the MAC Championship will be held on a neutral site--maybe starting this year. Ford Field, Crew Stadium, or Paul Brown are the candidates.

I have to say that I am skeptical of this. I would like Ford Field--nearby and indoors! But, the Crew and the Cincy? Not so good, but better for those in Oxford. I liked the home site for the reason listed above--it helped us get a crowd. I can't imagine I would have been able to arrange to be in Cincy on very short notice.

Now, having said that, I will concede the following. I have been skeptical of many of the things Rick Chryst has done, and in those cases, he was generally right. I liked the home and home format for the MAC hoops tourney, and thought the Gund would fail just as Centennial, Ann Arbor, SeaGate Center and Rockford Illinois had before it. Wrong again--it is a signature event for the league.

So, there you go. I don't like it, but it will probably work out!

If they have the game at CREW STADIUM... it will be the BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!!

THE FACILITY IS CRAP! IT HOLDS 20,000 fans... and you will be playing in OSU's back yard...

I know the facility is crap because I worked there for 6 months... the place leaks... its Cold as hell... and it is a soccer specific stadium that doesnt convert well for football. Trust me... this isnt the location the MAC should want. I prefer rotating back and forth between the EAST and West.

I agree with you...It's going to be tough to plan a trip on such a short notice. I'm not sure this is going to be fan friendly unless it falls on a weekend. Obviously this is a money thing. But Crew Stadium? Out of all the venues? They're reaching there. Might as well play inside Nationwide arena. I'm not a big fan of this either. Hopefully it works out.

I'd support playing the game in Uranium City, Saskatchewan if it keeps the MAC title game out of Joan Edwards Stadium at Marshall University.

I mean that.

A neutral site has long been talked about. This is definitely the year to try it.

Of the three finalists, I like Detroit least. I think the Motor City Bowl has become a great game and I love Ford Field -- but both would lose some of their luster if the title game were also held in Detroit.

I've long thought the best site would be Canton.

A shame that isn't going to happen.

I like the idea of a neutral site, but I don't like the three venues they've selected. Because if we cannot draw a crowd for our own championship, then we do not have the right to be complaining about the MAC or BG not getting the opportunities they deserve. (But R4E does bring up a good point that if there is going to be a neutral site, it will be tough to draw on a weeknight...But I thought there were quite a few Redhawk fans at the Doyt last year that traveled fine).

I agree with Schad...I think Fawcett would be a great venue...It's good enough for the Hall of Fame Game. I like the idea of it be in Columbus due to its proximity to many MAC schools, but I agree that Crew Stadium is not good for football. It's a freakin' soccer stadium for cripes sake! I'd like to see it in Cleveland Browns stadium. The MAC is Midwest football...And Midwest football in late fall means cold with a possibility of snow. Oh well...Chryst has a pretty good batting average thus far, so I guess we've gotta trust him on this one too...I hope it works out!

The Stadium in Uranium City is being renovated this year, so they had to throw that out of the mix. It was damaged due to a massive prairie dog infestation.

Great point Schade. I have to agree. And I would think that the Motor City Bowl wouldn't necessarily be thrilled about Detroit hosting another MAC game just three weeks before the Bowl. There are probably a lot of MAC fans in Detroit that go a one game a year just to see these teams play. If there is a chance to see two MAC teams in a championship game, some of the casual fans might prefer that to the Bowl game. But then again, Detroit is the largest of the three cities in contention so I think you may have to just roll the dice and say go to where the population is and hope they show up.

Personally though, if it is a MAC game is December, it has to be played outdoors!

If the game was on that Friday night before the Big XII, SEC, etc . . . that could potentially work, but a Thursday night game could be disastrous.

I like the idea of Canton that someone brought up, Crew Stadium isn't bad, but please keep us away from Detroit and Cleveland. The MACC game doesn't need to be tarnished by having 18-25,000 people show up in a 75,000 seat venue.

Canton would almost have to be a Friday game as well unless Kent or Akron was playing. Cincinnati just doesn't seem to fit. I think a more centrally located game would work out well.

I think you all may be overlooking an important point on why you move the MACC to a permanent site, and that is marketing.

If you announce now where the game will be and when you have a much longer time to promote the event, sell tickets, and turn it into a true event.

Think about it...if the MACC was at a neutral site last year, there would have been thousands of tickets sold to Toledo, Marshall and Northern Illinois fans during the season. Fans would have started reserving hotel rooms and making travel plans etc.

This would turn the game into a true event...but this takes time and consistency which is something the old rotating game never has never had.
