No new signees today on NSD2?

Post by BGSU33 »

Today was the second National Signing Day period. And surprisingly, it appears we haven’t signed anyone. SL said we have 3 scholarships to offer, I assume we’re going to use them on transfers now. He talked last year about not going after transfers, but with the hit of transfer portal guys we’ve encountered, he now sounds like he’s changed his tune. And he really had to. Especially with what happened at WR with the guys who left.
It sounds like he was looking for transfers with multiple years remaining. Hopefully we’ll hear something soon because I was shocked we had no signees today. This would be the only thing that makes sense to explain that.

The early signing period has kind of killed the "real" signing day, with basically everyone signing early.

We signed 20 guys back in December, plus a transfer, bringing the class to 21 of a possible 25. I'm pretty sure Loeffler said we're going to fill out the rest of our class with transfers (with a good amount of eligibility left) now

But I feel good about this class. The measured quality of players is actually better than last year, when you look at 247's average commit rating for our class. I think Tae'Shaun Johnson is going to be a star here, and we got better both in the trenches and at skill positions. I'm excited to see them contribute soon.

They also gave a scholarship to the walk on safety, that played quite a bit this fall. And there were gray shirts from last year..... I don’t know the rules/mechanics or real numbers, but they may have less or no spots, due to those moves.... ?
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.
