Who would have thought a month ago we be trailing 5-6 MAC schools in standings?

Two teams going in complete opposite directions. Ohio is red hot having won 7 of their last 9, including 4 in a row coming into this game, while also shooting past BG in the standings. They also went out and got a grad transfer in the post who is killing it for them this year (you hear that Huger). BG comes into this game still $hitting down its leg, having lost 6 of the last 7, including 5 in a row and the last 4 at home. Who in the hell would have expected that this year? Ohio blew the first game vs BG this year when they had BG down big (hmmm, imagine that, where have we heard that before?), and that was without their best player as Preston was out. Last year it took a massive game from Diggs from behold the arc to keep us in it, a missed front end of a 1-and-1 by Ohio at the end and a last-second shot from Turner in a game where he made just two shots all game to avoid a loss. These are two teams moving quickly in opposite directions and I don't expect that to change after this one. Until BG stops falling behind big early, starts making shots, starts defending, starts rebounding, blah, blah blah - who are we kidding - nothing is going to change. We aren't able to do much of any of those things, let alone all of them, which is why we're in this position in the first place.
GO BG!!!

We'll start winning some games again when Diggs & Matheny get back to shooting 40% or better from 3 again. They've both been ice cold for the past month and we cannot win without their shooting.

Unfortunately we don't do jack s**t to help them get good looks. We don't pass so they can shoot the much easier catch and shoot 3s. Instead they're either shooting on the run in transition or shooting early from 3' beyond the arc. Sometimes we might run Diggs off a screen, but that's still a tougher shot than letting our somebody sit in the corner and hit a catch and shoot corner 3.

This group is not going to defend, and Preston will eat us alive. We don't have a matchup for his quickness, and if we do it'll be somebody giving up a couple inches to him. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him score 20 and toss 10 assists. We can NOT guard the interior at all without leaving shooters WIDE open on the wings. He's good enough to take advantage of that in a big time way.

I think the one thing that people are forgetting about this team right now is that we should have probably lost 7 games in a row. That UB game we won was a total fluke where we had a bazillion offensive rebounds. I have no idea how we got so fortunate to outrebound the Bulls like that, but until our 3rd & 4th scorers start doing so with efficiency again those crazy rebound games will be the only ones we win.

This team is absolute garbage on defense, and largely pretty shitty on offense as well. Dunno if I'll bother watching or not, sure as hell wouldn't plan my day around it, but since it's still COVID, it's not like I have anywhere else to go.

Well I seriously just hit post on the above when I got a twitter notification that the game was postponed.

Hallelujah the hoops program has finally devolved to the same place as the Football team. Best games of the year are the ones that get canceled for COVID...yippee.

By the time Moosbrugger is done with BG Athletics there isn’t going to be any fans left. Between the Loeffler hire, the Huger extension, and cutting baseball his grade would probably be a D. Made a couple good hires on the women’s side, but as a fact, the womens teams don’t bring in as many fans. The sooner a change is made at the top the better.
