Not sure if I'm buying this. JT is the most overrated player to ever play here. Yeah, he can score of he takes a ton of shots. But, he never gets it done in the clutch. He can't finish at all against any type of defense. He plays hero ball and pounds on the floor a lot. We'd been better off turning the page and investing the minutes elsewhere.
You are a little harsh on Turner. He may not be up with the Komives, Thurmonds, and Antonio but last night was not his fault. I can't comment on the D but his offensive line was 53% shooting overall, 60% of 3's, 4 for 4 from the line, tied for team lead in Rebounds and steals, and got the only block. I think a lot of the problem is that Turner has to do way too much. If Fields is out nobody else including Matheny are reliable PGs as to assists and lack of turnovers.

NEVER gets it done in clutch? Not sure how or where you’ve reached this conclusion as I’ve seen several games (incl. Toledo) when he hit a dagger to clinch or win at buzzer .
Could he be pressing now? Possible,.. but whole team seems to be pressing. Huger has complained about defense not leading to better offense .. some laughed at this, but look at rebounding, opponents % from field and tell me why defense hasn’t caused more problems.

+1. Don't understand coming down on Turner when he has singlehandedly won us several games in the last two years. I've been following BG basketball for the better part of two decades now and he is, by far, the best basketball player I've watched here. You can't be called overrated when you score 2,000 points in a career. Just doesn't work like that.

Our defense is lousy, and we just aren't a good rebounding team. We don't have enough long athletes to defend, our guards are only ok defenders, we don't have anybody that can defend in the paint.

Anybody should have known, looking at this roster, that it wouldn't be a great defensive team. Last year's team wasn't a great defensive team and that was with Mattos & Sierra playing quite a few minutes.

But Huger's insistence that our offensive problems are tied to are defense is just bullshit. You can't design your entire offensive philosophy around being a good defensive team and getting shots in transition. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE playing fast basketball and getting points in transition (and I actually think transition is the one time we actually DO move the ball well). Still when it comes down to it at some point every team is going to have to prove they can score in a half court set. There is zero reason this team should struggle so mightily to get shots in the half court, and it's his JOB to figure out how to manufacture offense. Anybody can tell a team of good athletes to run and score when they get defensive stops, but when those stops aren't coming you have to have SOMETHING worth trying on the offensive end.

Over the last 7 games we've been bad on both ends, but I find the offensive woes to be more frustrating than the defense, just because I think anybody should expect this group to have defensive issues. Offense should be our calling card and our half court sets look like YMCA league garbage.

Exactly. If you can't execute in the half-court, you just aren't a good offensive team. Offense from defense is intermittent, but to say the defense and transition baskets is the basis for an offense is ludicrous.
